Bank can provide the payment plan on your request, you need to negotiate with the bank for restructuring your liability towards bank if you have defaulted your liability. In any case, if the bank is not ready for restructuring the liability, you have to face the legal action if the bank initiate so, usually, the bank may be ready for negotiation.

However, it totally depends upon the discretion of the bank. You can talk to the bank yourself or through your lawyer.
