Q: I have a personal loan at Dubai Islamic Bank. I was paying regularly but in 2016 me and my wife were having financial difficulties so I skipped 2 payments. I kept paying regularly after that and wasn't able to catch up on that missed payment, and when my company was about to renew my visa, there was a case filed against me by the bank, so I got jailed. To to cut it short, I paid an amount that was placed on what I am assuming the security check. But until now they are still calling me and asking me to pay the remaining amount of my loan and threatening that they will file up another security check to got me jailed again. I am very concerned and stressed as I am traveling by December of this year. Kindly help please. Thanks.

The opponent informed me that he wishes to make a settlement offer. Can this be done via the court or is it out of court settlement? If via the court, please guide me on the procedure to show the court the settlement offer and get it approved and made into an Executive Writ.

Q: Dear Sir/Madam, Greetings! I am an ex-pat who took a personal loan from a bank in Abudhabi. I have 13 months of installments left. My bank changed my monthly installment amount last month without any notification. They charged me an additional amount of 1190 per month for the next 13 months. When I contacted the bank, they said these are your accrued interest amount as I took deferment during Covid period. When I asked them how much the interest would be before taking deferment, they didn’t give me a proper response. I initiated a query with customer care asking them to provide complete details about my accrued interest. They are ready to discuss only via phone & they can’t send any emails.
