Bouncing the security deposit cheque by the landlord after giving NOC
Hi,
I had vacated my flat before the contract term ends.
I received the required NOC and paid for the maintenance as requested by the landlord and submitted all the clearance letter to the landlord, hence he had not returned by security deposit cheque and had deposited the cheque in the bank which got bounced.
What can I do in this case?
Please speak to the landlord and ask him why he deposited the cheque if there were no dues outstanding.
Ask him if he is intending to file a police case against you and what is the reason for that if you do not have any dues payable.
If there are no dues payable and he has given you a clearance letter, the presentment of the cheque must be an error.
In any case, he has no grounds to file a case with the police if there are no outstanding amounts due and payable.
