Preparing a will for giving the entire inheritance to granddaughter
I am a UAE citizen. My son passed away. I have no other children and I am divorced.
I only have one granddaughter who is American/Canadian. I also have 2 brothers and 2 sisters and a mother.
Under Islamic law, will she inherit me?
If not, can I put a will in place for her to get my entire inheritance whilst still abiding with Islamic law?
Thank you for your time!
According to Islamic law, your daughter will inherit half of your possessions.

Hello,
Generally, grandchildren could inherit from grandparents if they do not have surviving children. This ultimately depends on whether you are a man or a woman.
No, you may not be able to put an Islamic-compliant Will in place giving your entire estate to your granddaughter.
This is because, usually, under Islamic law, parents are entitled to a share of the deceased's estate. If the deceased has no living son, then the siblings also inherit.
We may be able to provide you with tailored alternative options, depending on the nature of your estate. Kindly contact my office via phone for options moving forward.
Kind regards,
Ludmila
