Q: One of my friends left the country with a credit card balance of around 120K. What are the formalities he has to face? How is the criminal case and civil case in the UAE? Can the bank catch him and get it from India? Can they file a case in India and attach his property?

Q: My friend left the UAE for family emergency reasons and had a loan debt remaining to the bank. He continued to pay the instalments for the next 3-4 months but could no longer because he did not have full-time employment. He kept in contact with the bank and let them know his situation. He only has part-time work while looking for full time and offered to make small payments to show good faith until he is able to secure full-time work. Now the loan is with a collection agency which is requesting a large sum or they will pursue legal action in the US against him. He wants to pay but due to his situation, he is unable to at this moment. They refused his smaller amount of payment offer. He does not plan on travelling back to Abu Dhabi. The question is, he is trying to pay but they will not accept that amount. Why will they not take the amount offered since he is communicating and wants to pay? What can they do to him in the US? How will that help them get their money back?

Q: Is it possible to recover money from someone who has fled the UAE? The amount I need to recover is close to AED 1,000,000. The person has most probably gone to Pakistan or Afghanistan.

Q: If a UAE resident (natural person) signs a loan agreement (simple Lombard loan agreement with the pledge of securities at the same bank) with another jurisdiction bank (e.g. in a European Union country like Austria), and if a conflict occurs between the bank and the UAE resident natural person in the future, could he sue the bank in UAE court jurisdictions even though all loan agreement documents signed in Austria by just referring Austrian court jurisdictions at the loan agreement and even though his financial assets are invested and pledged at an Austrian bank account? Q: A will was made in India for an Indian property. The will states that "all other properties acquired hereafter should go to my wife". There was no will made in Dubai for the Dubai house. My husband (non-Muslim) passed away in Dubai. Can I apply this Indian will for a property in Dubai which was acquired by my husband before his death? Will the Sharia court accept this will or reject it saying that it is only for Indian properties? Are wills made in India for Indian properties valid in Dubai? Appreciate your answer in this regard!
