Punishment for being drunk and assaulting a police officer

I am a UK citizen, 46 years old, and I have been charged with theft, being drunk and assaulting a police officer.

I was in a holding centre for 16 days and after seeing the prosecutor, he let me out whilst holding my passport for bail conditions.

Can I expect a jail sentence or a fine?

Dear Questioner,

I believe that the accusations you are facing are quite serious and you cannot just let it develop by itself.

You MUST defend yourself regarding these accusations as it may result in both, a jail sentence "for few months" plus the fine; that also can be quite a big one.

I highly recommend you to be represented by a lawyer to review the police report and prosecution memo, then defend you to avoid the maximum sanctions towards this incident.

Hi thank you

I must reply that I am innocent apart from being under the influence of alcohol.

I have retained a lawyer although he has not met with the prosecutor as yet.

I apologise, as I thought that it would be unlikely to be granted a bail if jail time was a possibility.
