Bounced cheque case by the landlord after paying the rent
I had given a cheque to my previous landlord which got bounced. Later, I had paid the amount by cash in his bank account and have handed him over the bank receipt as well.
I do have a copy of the bank receipt signed by his manager also. Although the money is paid, he didn't return me the cheque and rather lodged a police case of cheque bounce.
Also, he has given me a clearance certificate against the flat. What can I do when I am not in fault?
Kind advice will be highly appreciated.
Dear Client
Giving a cheque without balance is a crime in the UAE.
You have 2 choices, either settle with the complainant, get the waiver and remove the case or visit the police station, get your file transferred to prosecution and pay fine.
If you need any kind of help, please feel free to contact me by phone.

Dear Sir,
Many thanks for your enquiry.
All that you have to do at this stage is to find out the police station where he has lodged a case against you and present your receipt for the rent paid and clearance certificate there.
The police will look into it, call him to the police station to acknowledge the settlement made and ask him to return your cheque to you in their presence and dismiss the case.
Should you require further assistance, you may call us.
Many thanks,
