Q: Hello,
I had a credit card from a bank for AED 12,000. I failed to pay since I lost my job for the last 10 months. The bank stopped contacting me for 6 months.
I recently found a job and I have an emergency to fly back home. Will I be stopped at the airport and how can I know if the bank filed a case against me?
Thank you

Q: Dear Nikhat,
I have a personal loan with a bank in Dubai. Last October 2016 I lost my job and the company sent me back to my country. Now I have a job offer and visa.
Will I be arrested if I arrive in the UAE?
Due to the job lost only I didn't pay the amount. If possible I can speak to the bank and I can pay the amount monthly.

Can I return back to the UAE after leaving for credit card and overstay?

Q: Hi,
My name is A. I was working in Dubai since 2013 and I lost my job in April 2019. I cancelled my residence visa and took a visit visa for one month.
But due to some credit card case, I was not able to renew the visa and I overstayed 6 months. I had to exit the UAE on 26th November 2019 without a pass.
Can you please let me know what is the possibility to be back in the UAE and apply for a residence visa?

Will you get a travel ban for failing to pay credit card debts?
1
Q: Hi Sir/Madam,
My name is L. I had 3 credit cards debts and I was terminated from my job in Dubai in 2020 because of Corona.
Since then I went back home but was still making the minimum payments to the banks until July 2021. Until now I am getting calls from those banks saying they will bounce the cheque and file a case against me.
Since the new law has been passed, I know the bounced cheque can be directly be used as an execution deed without the need to go through a long civil case.
My question is when I am back in Dubai, will I get a travel ban and/or jail term?
If yes, then I am assuming it is for not honoring the judgment order, then what is normally the term?
Kindly advise

I lost my job and left the UAE without paying the credit card dues. Can I come back?

1
Q: Hello
I was working between 2016 and 2020 in a company. The owners ran away without any notice during the Covid lockdown. Due to the lockdown, I couldn't get a new job, so I decided to leave the UAE with my family.
I have no intention to cheat anyone, but unfortunately, I could not pay any credit card dues until now. I got a good job again in the UAE.
After the cheque bounce case was decriminalized - is there a chance to stop me at the airport?
Now, I am working in business development so I need to travel to other countries as well. How can we check any travel ban, criminal case, and civil case?
I can be ready to pay in installments one by one. The total amount is around AED 120,000 for 5 credit cards.
One more question:
In my new company, I need to visit various countries for work purposes at the time if I pay a fine in court/if no civil case against me.
Can I get a police clearance certificate to travel to other countries or apply for a visa to other countries?
Advanced thanks to all and looking forward to hiring a lawyer to solve this problem.

Traveling through the UAE while there is a bank loan unsettled

Q: Good day,
l used to have a credit card with a bank then l moved out of the UAE but continued paying although sometimes l delayed payments due to the transfers from one country to another.
Then one time 5 years ago, l was in transit through Dubai airport, and l was arrested and detained for a whole night. But at the police station, they asked me to pay AED 20,000 if l wanted to be released from prison and continue with my journey.
l asked family members to assist me. They paid the amount that was required and l was released. Only to find out when l got to my destination that the bank was still sending more emails for me to keep paying.
From that time, l tried to inform them that l paid money to be released and the amount that l owed the bank was only AED 40,000. Now my question is:
Will l have any issues again if l try to visit the UAE or just use it as a transit country?

The management of individual financial affairs is crucial and all the actions must be weighed down while committing to any financial liability. Whether it's job loss that may have lead to financial failure or the opposite, one must be aware of the personal liability which will not diminish by paying fines for cheque bounce cases. There are two major types of liabilities, criminal liability and civil liability. Each has its own significance, hence, must be dealt with accordingly.

The bank wants to take a property as collateral for an unpaid loan. What to do? 0
Hello,
I took out a loan in the amount of 4,000,000 DHS, and I repaid the principal amount but I refused to pay the interest which was 800,000 DHS, I still own a property in Dubai and the value is around 3,000,000 DHS.
The bank wants to take the whole property as collateral for my debt. Can the bank do this? Or do they have to sell the property, take what I owe them, and pay me the rest? Or will they be taking the whole property? Are they allowed to do such a thing?

Possibility to terminate the SPA and claim refund for handover delay 0
Hi,
I purchased an off-plan property in Dubai that had an estimated completion date of August 31, 2020.
I received an email that due to a delay, my completion date has been pushed forward to April 30, 2022. The email they sent for the delay did not say what was the reason for the delay.
Since the developer has violated the SPA by delaying the project past 12 months of the completion date, can I request that the contract be cancelled and get what I have paid back?
Do you believe that the developer could utilize Covid-19 as Force Majeure as a reason for not following the contract?
Regards
