Holding the passport of an employee by the employer

Holding the passport of an employee is illegal. Try to explain to your employer you will have to file a complaint if your passport will not be handed over to you.

If the employer is withholding your passport against your will, you can proceed to the nearest police station and file a complaint against your employer.

As per the labour law, an employer can't keep the employee's passport with him. You can initiate a complaint against the employer at the police station.
