Can I exit the country without clearing my credit card dues?

Hi,

I am an Indian National living in the UAE. I have 1 credit card, I do not have any loan and I also do not have any EMI to pay but I have AED 25000 due to pay for my credit card.

Now I got a job in Saudi Arabia and I am unable to pay all the money at once.

My question is that, can I leave the UAE without paying the due amount? Will it create any issue at the airport while leaving to India on the final exit?

Dear Sir/ Madam,

Thank you for reaching out to me on this.

As I understand, you have a credit card as the only liability in the UAE. You wish to leave the UAE to secure a job in Saudi Arabia.

You may leave the UAE as long as you do not have any cases in the UAE. As long as you are paying your monthly instalments/bills for the credit card, the bank will not take any action against you.

Assuming you stop paying the monthly bills, the bank will bounce your security cheque (assuming you have given one. If you haven't given any cheque then you may ignore this) and file a police case against you.

This police case will result in a travel ban and an arrest order in the UAE. If this case is filed before you depart the UAE, then, of course, you will not be able to travel to Saudi Arabia to secure your job.

In order to be safe and secure, you must do a police inspection before you exit the country to ensure there are no issues at the airport.

I trust you will find this helpful.

Regards,

Hari Wadhwana

Dear Sir,

Yes, I never missed any monthly minimum payment and willing to transfer it even after leaving the UAE.

I have one salary account with (A) bank and a credit card with (B) bank.

Once my final salary or EOS (end of service) is transferred to my to A bank account, A will freeze my account, right?

But I have a credit card of B bank, so will A inform B to file a case against me or they tell this guy is leaving the UAE or anything?

Will A inform or do anything and try to reach out B to stop this person leaving the UAE?

Dear Sir,

No, (A) bank will not inform anyone about your EOSB or instruct another bank to file a case against you.

Thank you so much for all your advice and help.

You're welcome and have a good day!

Sir,

But (A) bank will freeze my account as soon as my EOSB is credited in my salary account, right Sir? or I will get some time to withdraw it?

7 Oct 2019, 08:46

They will freeze the account as soon as the EOSB is transferred.

They will also freeze my account if the salary is transferred as the final salary?

Can I withdraw my final salary or they only freeze my EOSB??

7 Oct 2019, 08:51

Your full account will be frozen.

So I can not even withdraw my salary?

In this case, how I will get my salary back?

I will be in India at that time, how could I take my salary?

What is the procedure?

Please explain.
