You have not mentioned the emirate where this cheque bounce case has been filed/expected to be filed? The judgment may vary in different jurisdictions.

Also, here the situation is different as partial payment has been done, so the evidence can be produced in the court for a waiver of punishment (jail/fine) which will be decided by the court.

The charges on cheque bounce are not the same in the UAE and Dubai.

In Dubai, as per the new law of 2017, cheque bounce cases will no longer be dealt at the criminal court.

It will be resolved with the fines itself i.e. no jail term for the issuer of a dishonoured cheque which is definitely a sigh of relief for cheque payers.

This new law is applicable only in Dubai. While the rest of the UAE will abide by the traditional law i.e. detention and fine payment.

First, I think you have not mentioned the emirate where this criminal case for the bounced cheques has been filed. Sometimes, the decision varies due to jurisdiction.

And for your case, the partial payment has been done. So the papers and all documents can be produced in the court and the court will decide accordingly.
