Q: Greetings, I was terminated by my company in May 2016 because they were cutting the number of staff. I had a credit card with 10,000AED that I used fully. I was unable to reach the bank and so far I have never received any call or email from them. I was struggling with unemployment all this time and couldn’t pay my debt, I have no intentions to not pay because it’s Haram/prohibited in my religion. Recently, I got a job offer in another GCC country and I want to go there and pay my debt using my salary. My question is, will I be arrested in that GCC country at the airport? I don’t know if a police case has been filed against me or not, what I know is I am morally obligated to pay my debt and the only way I can do it is if I start that new job, my family is poor and my country has no job opportunities. I’m afraid to be detained and sent to the UAE, this will not solve the issue, nobody will be able to pay for me and jail won’t solve the problem. Any help is greatly appreciated. Regards.

Q: I have a loan with UAE bank: 1 credit card outstanding value is 22,000 AED & one personal loan around 85,000 AED. I lost my job on Jun 2016. From there I unable to pay my EMI (6 months). Bank is not agreeing for settlement plan as per my request. Now they are saying they are going to file a case.Now my doubt, if I get a job in GCC other than UAE, will police catch me in the airport in any GCC? OR arrest is possible only if they file a case in that particular country?Please, advise.

Q: Greeting! My name is Fazil Hussain, I was working in the UAE for past 5 years, I have a personal loan of 80,000 from ADCB Bank in Dubai. I never missed a single EMI to the bank and had good records. But I lost my job, so had to come back to India. I wanted to go back to Dubai and search for a job but the bank said they have blocked my visa and I cannot get a job there. I replied to the bank by email that if they block my visa then how can I find a job in Dubai and how should I pay my outstanding balance on the personal loan. I can pay my loan only if I get a job in the UAE... Please help me with your advice, I can pay the outstanding only if I work in GCC. I can't afford to pay from India. I want to pay my outstanding and clear it. Can the bank give me NOC to work in Dubai and pay their loan? And I want to know, is it possible if I go to Saudi Arabia and do a job and pay my installments to the bank in the UAE?

Q: Dear Honorable Lawyers, I worked in Doha, Qatar for 15 years. I serviced a personal loan and had excellent payment records. I got laid off at the end of 2017 and was still paying for another 6 months in 2018 despite being unemployed until I could not pay anymore. I left Doha and returned home hoping I could find a job and slowly settle it. The bank HQ in Dubai contacted me and I told them of my unemployment and also felt ill. Simultaneously, they asked a collection agency to follow up as and I told them the same as well. Now, I am much better and potentially may be hired in Dubai for a job. The question is, can I be banned from entering the UAE? I inquired from the bank to let me know how much I can settle but they are referring to the collection agency instead, which I told them I only will deal with the bank. Can you please address my query if I am banned from entry to the UAE? I don't want losing an employment opportunity and also to settle the loan, but I don't want to be arrested nor banned from entry to the UAE. Advise, please.
