Possible action for delay in payment of credit card installments

Dear Sir,

I have one credit card in a UAE bank from 2015.

I was paying the minimum instalment every month but for 5 months, my salary is delayed and I wasn't able to pay more.

The total outstanding is AED 60000. Please let me know what action can the bank take and give me some soloutions.

Thanks.

Dear Sir/ Madam,

Thank you for getting in touch with me on this.

As I understand you have defaulted since the past 5 months to pay the instalment amount.

If the bank has your security cheque, then it is possible they will bounce that cheque and file a police case.

If this is filed in Dubai, then you will face a judgement of fine (since the amount is less than AED 200,000).

If this is filed outside Dubai, then you will need a legal representative to convince the judge to give you a judgement of fine as the judgement of imprisonment is a possibility.

If the bank doesn't have your security cheque, it may file a civil case against you for the amount.

Please note that as soon as police case is filed, there will be a travel ban on you. In the civil case, the travel ban will be made after judgement.

I trust you will find this helpful.

Regards,

Hari Wadhwana
