Q: I have a Najm credit card, I used to do a minimum payment every month. I am working for a company for the past 2 years. I am not getting salary on time I used to get salary after every 2 or 3 months. I did them a minimum payment but late by arranging for one or another. I came to know that there is a final settlement for the credit card where you can pay a fixed amount every month. I requested them for the past 6 months but they didn't help me. Also, I came to know that they have put my salary of 11500 but I am getting a salary of 5000/-. Every month they are torturing me, for that can you help me with this. They also say they will deposit my security cheque and file a police complaint. This time when I went to meet one of the people for Najm card, I told him about my situation but they are not ready to listen. He gave me two options, either to pay 18500/- in one stroke or 20500/- in 2 instalments

Q: Dear Sir, I have credit cards and loan from 2 banks, almost AED 85k. Suddenly, my company is not able to pay the salaries & the last few months we are getting the salary after 50 days. I am managing my credit card by minimum payments but wouldn't be able to make payment of AED 59k loan now (paid 8 instalments). Now, I am receiving calls from the banks. The banks where I took loans have my cheques. What will happen now if the banks present my cheques & bounced? It's very difficult for me to settle.

Q: I am leaving the country within the month due to being laid off from work. I was late in paying my latest loan instalment by only one day, which resulted in the bank calling to ask why last month's salary was not credited. I told them that I was still employed with the company and that this month's salary will be credited without any issue. I told them that I paid the last loan instalment anyway. This explanation seems to have satisfied the bank representative, however, I'm still concerned. I am currently updated on my loan payment, with no other debt except for this loan. I plan to continue my payments once I'm back home as I am starting a business. I cannot pay my loan if I get stuck here in the UAE. Is travel ban a possibility when I leave the country in the coming weeks?

Q: A judgment has been made on a civil case for a bank cheque in Dubai some time ago. Would it be possible to negotiate an installment plan with the bank to solve the case or it will be a must to pay the full amount as per the judgment?

This Law promulgates the Federal Penal Code (Criminal Law) of the United Arab Emirates. Crimes and chastisement punishments shall be determined in accordance with the provisions of this Law and other penal codes.

This Law applies to merchants, as well as to all acts of commerce carried out in the UAE by any person even though he be not a trader. Commercial matters regarding which specific Federal laws are issued shall be subject to the provisions of such laws, and to the provisions hereof which do not contradict with said laws.

The provisions of this law, promulgating UAE Civil Code, govern the civil transactions in the United Arab Emirates. The commercial transactions remain subject to the laws and regulations applicable in their regard.
