What can I do if my lawyer is not preparing me or communicating well regarding my criminal case?
Q: Good morning, I have concerns about my lawyer whom I have paid to defend me in a criminal case. Communication with them is non-existent. They simply gave me the first court date and told me to make sure I was there. They did not prepare me or give me guidance for the first hearing and did not tell me what I should do or say. The lawyer who attended court is not one I have seen up until that point. I believe he was assigned by the law firm under their POA. He simply told me to take a seat and wait for the court then he walked away. I now have an appeal coming (public prosecution appealed) and again, the law firm has not been in touch to prepare me or explain how to answer. Each time, the law firm only told me they had already prepared my defense and sent it to the court (they did not show me the defense document). Is this normal? What should I have expected for preparation before a court appearance? Thank you

Can the owner of a company escape if there is a cheque execution and travel ban on him?
Q: I raised a cheque execution case against a company and its owner and won. There is a travel ban on him. I was receiving installments for three months and now he stopped paying. The court after request summoned him. In total, he paid only 30% of the owed money. I found that his company license is expired and also in the month his visa will expire. Does he have any option to avoid payment? Please note he was deceived by showing no money in his bank account and no assets in his name but he is running multiple businesses. Also a month ago, he tried to convince me to lift the travel ban but I refused to do so. But he submitted a guarantee and left UAE. Now the status shows he is back in the UAE and the travel ban imposed again. But after that, he stopped payment. Is there a 1% chance of him not paying me the remaining money? Is there a way he can leave the country through the Amnesty program or any of this sort?

Q: We are a general trading company based in Dubai, and we are considering renting a space in the city for a retail point to sell food and beverage products. However, the landlord of the intended retail space is not willing to provide an Ejari contract. We would like to inquire whether, under Dubai law, we can operate a retail business without an Ejari contract for the rented space. I resigned and my company asked me to sign the cancellation paper before paying my dues. Should I do that?
Q: I resigned from my job in Dubai and I had to travel back to my home country right after the notice period. The company asked me to sign the cancellation paper as they will need 4-5 days to pay all settlements. As I have to leave the country, they asked if there will be a problem with cancellation if I leave the country and just sign so they can proceed with my cancellation and payments which they will do in a few days. How to delay a eviction by court a few days to pay rent and renew contract in agreement with the landlord?
Q: I’m searching for legal advice regarding timing RDC. I have an RDC enforcement case and got the final judgment and payment deadline. I asked the landlord for 6 days extra to make the payment, which will be happening in the next few days. In the meantime, I was contacted yesterday evening by the enforcement team to ask if I had already vacated the property. My question is: 1. How many days are usually granted by the eviction team? I’m speaking about between contacting me regarding the eviction and enforcing eviction. Can they grant me a few days or how does this work? 2. Will the enforcement/eviction team take into account that I spoke to the landlord about a few more days to pay and renew the contract? 3. Will the enforcement team schedule a specific date for eviction or how is this handled? Do they just come without an appointment or do they schedule a specific time and day to come? I cannot get hold of the eviction team - so do they make an appointment to come or how does it work exactly?2025/03/11
