A civil case for a bounced cheque that I did not sign was filed against me by the bank. What to do?
Q: I require legal advice regarding a case related to a cheque bounce. In 2023, a civil case was filed against me due to a bounced cheque. This morning, I submitted a request to the court to convert the case into easy installments, even though I did not have the case documents, as I owed a limit of AED 15,000 on my credit card. When I logged into the MOJ website to check the judgment details, I discovered that the case involved two bounced cheques, each for AED 10,800, which I did not sign. In 2014, when I applied for an auto loan, I received a credit card with a limit of AED 15,000, and I signed a guarantee cheque for that amount. However, I am confused as to how the two cheques for AED 10,800 each were issued. The signatures on both cheques, which amount to AED 10,800 each, are completely different from my actual signature, with each having a different pattern. Who is responsible for this? I would appreciate your guidance on this matter from a legal perspective.

Q: Dear Lawyers, How can I inquire about properties registered under a company if I have a copy of its trade license but don`t know how to verify the properties associated with it? What can I do if the tenant refuses to leave the property at the end of the eviction notice?
Q: We served our tenant 1-year eviction notice. All done correctly and I don’t think he will leave when he should leave in a week. He tried to raise a petition to the DLD to say we own other properties that make the eviction illegal which the DLD rejected as we don’t own other property. I want to be prepared, so does anyone know what documents I’ll need to submit to raise a case if he doesn’t leave and what I need to translate before?

Q: Dear Sir/Madam, My previous employer has filed an embezzlement case against me after I left the job (almost 14 months ago). I have no clue what evidence they have, as it is a fake case. I also didn’t have any non-compete clause in my contract. The case is still under investigation at the police station and has not been passed to prosecution. My statement was taken two months ago, but there has been no further development. I do have a travel ban in place, as it is a criminal case. How is compensation calculated for evicting a tenant and renting to someone else?
Q: Dear Lawyers, My former tenant filed a 200k compensation case against me because I did not move into the house and rented it to another tenant. There was only one hearing, and in the next, I received the judgment to pay 100k in compensation. The breakdown states 40k as the rent difference for each year and 20k as moral damages. I am unable to understand how this amount was calculated, as the rent difference between my old rent and his new rent is 30k per year. Should I pay 3 months' salary if I leave my job without notice to care for my newborn?
Q: Dear Lawyers, I am leaving my job without a notice period because I have had a baby, and I am unable to leave him by himself at home. My contract states: Except as provided in clause 11.1, either you or the Company may terminate your employment at any time by giving three (3) months` prior written notice, or payment in lieu of notice, to the other party. (Any period of leave, including school holidays, cannot be counted towards the notice period.) Q: Hello, I own a tourism company in the UAE. A customer hired a vehicle with a driver from my company, stating he would pay in cash. He used the car to get picked up from Jumeirah, traveled to Sharjah, and utilized it for a full-day service. I paid a a booking fee for a real estate company to rent a warehouse and did not work. How to get the fee back?
Q: Hi, I paid 10% (booking fee) to a real estate company for renting a warehouse compound in Dubai. We had a verbal and written agreement (via invoice) that if the deal didn’t go through, they would refund the full 10% booking fee. The landlord took a lot of time and the deal didn’t go through, now one of the real estate agents is saying his partner is a scammer (2 owners). He says he always does this and does not refund clients` booking amounts. Right now, one partner says he will refund the money but it’s been a month since I asked for the money back. He is always telling stories. However, he gave me a personal cheque of around 60k saying this was a guarantee cheque. However, he didn’t have any money in it so asked me not to deposit it. I really need my money back. How to proceed with this? Should I go to RERA or the police to help me get my money back asap? Kindly assist. Thank you

Q: I am a Canadian citizen. My ex-wife is also a Canadian citizen and she lives in Kuwait. The court in Kuwait issued a verdict regarding child support. I currently reside in the UAE.
