How to solve the OTP issue blocking my visa change while changing jobs and get a new visa?

Q: I need legal advice regarding the cancellation of my work permit to join a new company. Here’s a brief overview: I have worked for a contracting company in Dubai since 2018, with my visa later transferred to Sharjah. After receiving a job offer in Dubai, I resigned, but my old employer’s attempt to cancel my work permit failed due to an OTP issue. ICP granted permission to cancel my change-of-status visa, but when my new employer applied for my permit, they found the old one still active. I raised a labor complaint with MOHRE on 21 March 2025, but it`s still under process. My family’s grace period expired on 27 Mar 2025, so I sent them back to India. I’m now facing a daily fine of AED 50 for overstaying since my change of status was canceled on 13 Mar 2025. Once this is resolved, I plan to bring my family back as my son’s school reopens on 07 April 2025. I would appreciate your advice on resolving the permit cancellation and overstay fines.

Are the non-compete clauses enforceable in case of resignation to take a better offer?

Q: Currently working at Company X in Dubai. I recently got a stronger offer from Company Y, a much larger firm in the same industry but in a different free zone. When I asked if Company X could match the offer, they proposed a bonus, not a salary adjustment. I resigned. While I didn’t disclose where I was going, they seem to know, and their legal team has started sending letters. My contract has restrictive clauses, including: “For 12 months post-termination, the employee shall not, without prior written consent, (a) be employed or engaged in any capacity by any business in competition in the UAE with any Restricted Business; (b) have business dealings with any Client or Prospective Client in such competition.” Friends in law say it’s too broad to enforce. I held a manager role, AED 30k/month, not C-level, though considered a key member. Despite the pressure, I believe they’re overreaching legally. Please advise if these non-compete clauses are enforceable.

My car has been declared a total loss, and they are offering 50% less than the insured sum. I am also trying to recover our medical expenses and personal injury following the accident, for which I have all the invoices and medical diagnosis reports. My insurance is [------] fully comprehensive, but they are not offering any support with recovering the medical expenses or with claiming for personal injury, as I was not at fault in this accident. The faulty party`s insurance legal representative mentioned that she does not understand English and does not understand the emails or documents that I send. She is claiming that my medical diagnosis does not suggest that the injury was caused by the accident, even though it is mentioned within the report that the trauma from the car accident is a likely cause of the blood clot initially.

We have a Canadian will, but I understand that it won’t be honored as I am named the sole beneficiary, and that does not align with Sharia laws in the UAE. Mind you, we cannot afford to stay in Dubai for too long, as the kids have school. 2) Do I need a lawyer, or can this be done by myself? 3) I understand all foreign documents need to be authenticated before presenting them to the court. But I don’t know at what stage I would need these documents authenticated. I would appreciate it if you could provide a breakdown of the steps, the forms that are needed, and where I can find them. How to solve a dispute between and the new landlord and tenant for the actual move-out date?

Q: Hello There was a rental dispute for a house that had an ownership transfer and there was a difference of opinion between the landlord and the tenant on the move-out date. The landlord is suing the tenant for the entire period until case resolution, however, the tenant claims to have evicted and did handover with the previous owner, however, he overstayed by a week as per DEWA. The RERA has now appointed an accounting expert who will check the following details: 1. Verify tenant occupancy or vacating date. 2. Review management records for occupancy details. 3. Check the previous owner`s records on the vacating agreement. 4. The broker who confirmed move-out has PoA. 5. Verify ownership transfer notification to tenant. 6. Check DEWA for service disconnection details. 7. Assess rent due from 09/20/2024 – 10/11/2024 and payment status to new landlord. I would like to know what the CA would do, who does it favor, and what kind of proofs are needed to be provided. What if the CA cannot verify the house vacancy?
