Traveling to home country after joining a new company with a visa in process
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I have an offer from another company in Dubai. I currently work for a Free Zone Company in Dubai, and I joined last year on a 2-year visa. I will be moving with 1 year still left on my visa. I have already informed my new company that I want to travel to my home country after 2 weeks of joining, and they have allowed me to do so. However, I am worried that if my current employer does not cancel my visa on time and my new company is not able to process my visa in the meantime, I will not be able to come back to the UAE. Q: Hi, I am working as a mechanical engineer in a firefighting company in Abu Dhabi. I am in charge of and representing one of our sites and I am working inside the site. Due to our mistake during maintenance, we created a fire alarm which results in the evacuation of around 450 persons for 20 minutes. Due to this issue, our client charged a penalty of around 40000 Dhs to our company. Hence I need to know what actions can my company take against me. Is it allowed for the company to charge a full penalty amount from me or will they terminate me without settlement if I am proven guilty? If I need to pay the company some amount, what is the maximum amount I need to pay legally? Landlord served me eviction notice after I renewed lease. What are my rights?
Q: Hello, I recently renewed my rental contract at the end of May, but I was served an eviction notice today (June). The reason given was that the property is being sold, but I believe that the landlord wants to rent it at a higher price. He refused to abide by the RERA index, so I had to keep renegotiating for a fair rate. When I first moved in, the apartment had a previous owner who sold the unit to the current landlord, but the landlord did not evict me. This is why I believe that the current landlord is not actually selling the unit. I was happy to renew the lease, and I have been a good tenant and understanding towards the landlord. Can I travel to work in Qatar if I left the UAE with pending loans and credit card?
Q: I have worked in the UAE, but unfortunately I lost my job after the company forced me to resign. This was last 2017. Due to job loss, I was unable to pay my bank loans and credit card. Banks still keep sending me emails about unpaid loans and credit card. Is it the responsibility of the tenant or the landlord to fix damages caused by rain?
Q: Hello, I am a tenant living in Dubai and last winter lots of villas were affected by the rain and there was a lot of damage caused by the rain. There was leakage in the entire villa, the floor went down and a lot of tiles popped out and cracked, and that’s what the engineer sent by the developer to see the damages told me. I have the proof paper from the developer for all the damages. They only fixed the leakage, painted the walls, and refused to fix the tiles. Q: Hi I am from India, I was working in the UAE until November 2018 for a job change in the UAE, and I returned to India. But I didn`t get that expected job or a new one from the UAE. When I left the UAE, I had a credit card outstanding for a period of 6 months. I paid the EMI from India. But after 6 months, I could not continue to pay the EMI.
