Fraudulent transaction and legal threats by a bank in Dubai - What to do?
Q: Hi, My bank is threatening to file a civil case and travel ban against me in Dubai for not paying an amount close to 35 thousand dirhams. This amount was charged fraudulently on my card from my previous bank. I had filed a dispute form at that time, but before any investigation could take place, a bank bought the old bank. I filed a new dispute form with the new bank, but the case has remained unresolved for almost 2 years now. In addition, I have filed a police case (I have a letter from the police), with the Central Bank of UAE and AECB. I have also been in frequent contact with the bank via emails, phone calls, and branch visits. I would like to know if the bank has the right to file a case against me or impose a travel ban, given that they have already decreased my credit rating. Q: A friend owes me money and has been lying about paying, meeting, or talking to discuss. He has stopped responding to my calls and messages for months now. I tried to reach out in multiple ways with no luck, and I ended up posting on Facebook asking him for my money. The text was "Hey, where is my money that you never paid back. It`s been over a year, stop lying and running away". The post was up for less than 2 minutes as he deleted it and blocked me. Can I file an absconding case against an employee after canceling his visa and labor card?
Q: Good day! I have a query on employee cancellation. An employee is canceled, i.e. both his labor card and employment visa. Can the employer ask the employee to leave the country even if he has a pending labor case against the employer and a 90 days grace period to leave the country after the visa is canceled? Let me be once again clear here, both visa and labor card have been canceled because the case is already in the execution stage, the Ministry of Labor closed the case and canceled his card, after which the visa was canceled. Q: Six months ago, I was caught shoplifting at a supermarket in Sharjah by their security personnel. They did not involve the police, and instead, I paid for the stolen items and wrote a statement acknowledging that the issue was resolved amicably without police intervention. I have since visited the same supermarket multiple times and have not faced any further confrontations. I booked an apartment and did not get any contract. How to get money paid to real estate agent?
Q: I paid an AED 8190 booking fee in February, but the agent then failed to provide the apartment or even a contract which was to be signed on the 15th of March. As per our agreement, I requested a refund. We had a back-and-forth, and then they gave me a cheque for the amount to be cashed on the 28th of March.
