Does my release from the police mean the complainant dropped the case?
Q: Dear Lawyers, I was detained yesterday at Al Barsha Police Station regarding a complaint against me for theft. I was released this afternoon. The police told me I am released, but they didn`t give me any paperwork. My relatives went to the police station, and they were informed that I am "clear" and released. I checked the Dubai app with my case number, and there is no judgment date, session number, or prosecution date. Does this mean the complainant dropped the case and the travel ban is lifted?

Q: Hi there. I have taken a villa for rent in Mirdif, Dubai, and the owner handed over the property in an unlivable condition. So I didn`t want to stay in the property and wanted to end the contract. Can the court expert extend the timeline of delivering his report?
Q: In my misdemeanor case of 150,000, the case is in the upper court and is with the Ruler`s Court expert. The case went to the Ruler`s Court expert in October 2023, and the expert picked the case in Jan 2024. He said that the report will be ready in Apr 2024. Now there is a 2-month extension. Is there any timeline as to how much time the expert can take? Also, is there a maximum time as to how much time the case can stay in the upper court?+3

Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I have a real estate claim case in court, with several sessions held. The defendant only appeared for one session. On judgment day, the judge requested an expert appointment, which costs 15,000 AED. If it’s not paid, will the judge dismiss the case or will the judgment be unfavorable to me? I received a very short notice period to pay the fee.

Tenant always late with payments, hasn't renewed contract. What to do?
Q: Hello, I have a tenant who is always late with their payment. Their renewal was supposed to be last December 2023. Currently, they have not signed any new contract, provided any new cheques, and have stayed for three months from December until now without paying rent. Additionally, I just discovered that they have sublet the apartment with partitions, which is clearly stated as not allowed in the old contract. I have bounced cheques. Will Dubai Police consider this as a criminal offence?
Q: Hello, I have issued 3 cheques in the total amount of AED 46,000 as salaries for my worker and due to insufficient balance, 2 cheques have been bounced. But recently, the same current account has been closed by the bank (Due to multiple cheques bounced). The third cheque he deposited last week and that cheque bounced due to account closing. He is willing to file a police complaint and does not want to settle this amicably. I already obtained a letter from the bank that the bank itself closed the account. My question is will Dubai Police consider this a criminal offense? Any advice to resolve this matter would be appreciated.
