Q: Hello, My husband has been threatening that he will take my 2-year-old daughter to Pakistan and leave her there with his family. He has said this several times and has confirmed to my dad that he will be taking my daughter in the coming few weeks. We are both on his sponsorship. What are my rights in the UAE? Can my husband travel with a minor without the mother`s consent? How can I stop him from taking my daughter to Pakistan? Do I have any legal standing if I am under his sponsorship?

My husband sold the house we bought jointlyand took a cheque plus 1-year instalments from me. What can I do?
Q: Hi, I am a non-Muslim indian expatriate, residing in Dubai since 2015. The first 5 years, I was on a working visa, and after the delivery of my first baby, I left my job and became dependent on my husband. In 2018, we bought a house together where I invested AED 2 hundred thousand from my income (I have proof in the form of a cheque). I also paid AED 3300 monthly installment for 1 year, for a personal loan taken out for the house. But in spite of my resistance, my husband tactfully put the house in his name, so the title deed was in his name. In 2024, when my kids and I were in India for vacation, he cancelled our visas and residency. He also filed for a divorce in India. The divorce is not yet finalised, and we are still married. Since August 2024, he hasn`t let me access my house in Dubai, so I filed a case, which eventually went in my favor in January 2025. Since I used to travel on a visit visa, I left for India and returned in March, to find out that my husband had already sold the house. The new owner is residing there. What can I do now? Help!

Q: Hello, Our customer has gone into liquidation, and we are shipping goods to Saudi Arabia. We have stopped the shipment and requested payment of their outstanding balance. How can we request to take ownership of their goods to sell in order to recover our outstanding invoices? Is this possible in Dubai Courts?

Q: Hello, I bought an apartment, but the previous landlord is refusing to vacate it. The contract clearly states that the landlord should hand over the apartment on the day of the transfer. Out of courtesy, I gave him three days to vacate so he could find a new place to stay, but the time has passed, and he is still refusing to vacate and hand it over. What should I do in this case?

My hair was damaged by a very known and professional salon. Can I seek refund and compensation?
Q: Hello. I went to a very well-known and professional salon (or so I thought) for a normal hair dye. The guy who did my hair left the dye on my hair for over an hour when it was supposed to be on for a maximum of 30 minutes. He wasn’t paying attention to me walking around the store talking to everyone and also doing another customer`s extensions. Now my hair is potentially damaged, my skull burns, and is flaky (meaning the dye wasn’t ammonia-free which is extremely unprofessional for such an expensive salon). I didn’t even get the outcome that I wanted and the dye color doesn’t even show. I talked to him about it but he shut it down so fast and gaslit me the whole time and made me feel like I was the wrong one and I was ‘complaining about something so light’. Please let me know what I can do legally about this. Thank you.

Should I raise a case for child custody if my ex-wife is alcoholic and left us alone?
Q: A police complaint was filed for physical assault and alcohol abuse. The wife left home without the child and later was interviewed by social support. The wife was guilty after admitting the truth and gave a written statement to visit a psychiatrist and take therapy. She didn`t adhere to the agreement. Followed by a court case, divorce was granted to the husband based on infidelity, neglect, alcohol abuse, failure in maternal duties, verbal abuse, and misuse of social media under article 7 of federal law 41 of 2022, and the wife was obligated to pay expenses and fees under Article 133 of the Civil Procedures Code. The child has been physically with the husband since October 2023 and the entire expenses and well-being are taken care of by the husband. The ex-wife irregularly visits the child, doesn`t provide personal or financial support, forces the husband to give the child a passport and doesn`t want to raise it with the court, and continues to distress claiming that she has not given custody of the child. Should I raise a case for proof of custody or child custody?

Kindly assist with the below: In a penal case that is still at the investigation stage, if your statement was taken and they realized you are truly innocent, with your name included only by association, is there a chance that your name can be dropped before being referred to court? Or does the fact that they took your statement mean you must appear in court?

How to get back money loaned to a friend and claim compensation for emotional damage?
Q: I am seeking legal advice regarding a financial and emotional scam perpetrated by a close friend. She borrowed money from me, promising to return it but later claimed she could not. I discovered that she has been deceiving others similarly, taking money and providing false excuses. I have evidence of her fraudulent actions and testimonials from other victims. This betrayal has caused me significant emotional distress, including severe panic attacks, as I was already healing from past trauma and depression. Given the emotional harm she caused, I am interested in knowing if I can seek compensation under UAE law. I live in Dubai, and she lives in Ajman. Could you please advise if there are legal grounds for claiming compensation for emotional damage in such cases?

Recovering funds from a bounced check issuer who is abroad but still receiving a salary in the UAE
Q: Hi, I filed a case in the UAE over a bounced check for 100k AED. A judgment was issued against the check issuer, along with a travel ban. The problem is, the person has already left the UAE but is still receiving a salary in the UAE, paid into the same bank account the check was issued from (20k per month). Is there a way to deduct from their future income, or do I have to wait until they attempt to re-enter the country?+7

Does my release from the police mean the complainant dropped the case?
Q: Dear Lawyers, I was detained yesterday at Al Barsha Police Station regarding a complaint against me for theft. I was released this afternoon. The police told me I am released, but they didn`t give me any paperwork. My relatives went to the police station, and they were informed that I am "clear" and released. I checked the Dubai app with my case number, and there is no judgment date, session number, or prosecution date. Does this mean the complainant dropped the case and the travel ban is lifted?
