Q: Hello, I was supposed to renew my rental contract in early February, but due to harassment and threats, we agreed in rental court that we would settle and move out. Now, while awaiting the verdict, the landlord has gone ahead and canceled DEWA. What can I do? Isn’t that illegal?

I rented an apartment and paid to discover construction noises next door. Can I terminate the lease without penalty?
Q: I moved to a new apartment in Dubai DIFC (paying AED 250,000 annual rent) and I paid in one cheque. There is construction next to my apartment which is quite noisy and disturbs me. This will continue for 2 more years. They start to go higher and louder. I`m in the 60th floor. As I record Podcasts and work from home, I need a silent environment. In my contract, it is written: "In the event of the Tenancy being terminated by the Tenant before the expiry of the Tenancy Period, the Tenant shall be liable to pay 2 months’ rent as a penalty for such termination. The Tenant shall give notice of not less than 2 months." Would it be possible for me to get out of my lease agreement without penalty? I can stay 2 more months and give notice, but I wouldn`t like to pay the 2 months penalty (46,000 AED). Would it be possible to force the landlord to put soundproofing on his cost? A company that does soundproofing could add a glass layer and soundproof one room for 20,000 AED. Many thanks for your help A.

Q: I had a cheque case against my company. I got the first judgment to close the file, but the plaintiff filed an appeal. The court has blocked my company, and I couldn`t renew it. I filed a case against a person but the court ordered the payment of a smaller amount. Can I appeal?
Q: I filed a case against a person who took my money and the court assigned an expert but the expert ignored more real evidence and reported to the court even though I sent a comment to the expert that I did not accept it. Anyway, the court has given a decision and I won the case but for a smaller amount. My question is can I appeal this judgment to get a correction on the amount or it is better to make a civil case for the amount again?+1

Q: Dear Lawyers, I stood as a guarantor for a person who had a cheque execution and a travel ban. As a good friend, I guaranteed his travel at the Dubai court. Q: Hi, My husband passed away and I received a Court Order from ADJD stating that I am the manager of his estate. When I visited the bank, I was told that I should send a request through Dubai Courts to the bank to release any pending amounts in his accounts and that I could collect via Dubai Courts only and not from the bank. Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I have been involved in a criminal case since July 2024 and am currently under a travel ban. I got the judgment and penalty of 3700 which I paid but the prosecutor filed an appeal. Last week, my employer terminated me and initiated the process of canceling my visa. Is it possible to cancel my visa while I am still involved in a case and have a travel ban? How can I reach a loan settlement with the bank on relaxed payments instead of one-time payment?
Q: I lost my job during the pandemic and had to leave the UAE. After one and a half years, when I returned to the UAE, the bank`s collection department had filed a case against me. My original loan amount was only 91,000 AED, but with profit, it increased to 134,000 AED. I have been paying regularly, and now I have only 59,000 AED left. I asked the collection department to offer me a reasonable repayment solution, suggesting a settlement of between 20,000 and 25,000 AED. However, they demanded a one-time payment of 50,000 AED, which I cannot afford due to a lack of funds. Now, they are threatening to file another case against me with a travel ban. I would like to know if the collection department can file a case against me and if the judge would help provide a reasonable payment solution. I have repeatedly asked the bank for a more reasonable settlement amount, but they refused and insisted on filing the case.

Q: Hello, I`m in Canada, and I filed for divorce. My husband, who owns a real estate company in Abu Dhabi, kidnapped our children and took them to the UAE to avoid the divorce and force me back to him.
