Q: I hired two law firms to help resolve my rental dispute case, but both betrayed my trust. The first firm was to settle my balance at Sharjah Municipality. In November 2023, they asked for 50% of AED 70,942 to initiate an installment plan. Trusting them, I transferred the amount, believing it would go to the municipality. By June 2024, I discovered a travel ban was imposed on me. When I confronted the firm, they admitted the money never reached the municipality, claiming someone in their company took it. In October 2024, I hired another firm, they asked me to pay 8,000 AED upfront as lawyer’s fees. After that, they became unresponsive, ignoring my messages and providing no updates. Now, I’m unsure how to recover the AED 37,244.50 from the first firm and AED 8,000 from the second. I’ve lost trust in the legal system and don’t know how to proceed. I tried to find an Emirati lawyer, thinking it would be better, but my case always goes to a legal consultant. What should I do?

Can I close my UAE fixed deposit remotely with a POA if I can't travel?
Q: Hello, I am outside the UAE and canceled my UAE residency 2 years ago. I have an ENBD account with a fixed deposit of 10,000 AED and a credit card linked to that fixed deposit. Both were suspended a few months ago due to not having residency in the UAE. I want to close the fixed deposit because I need the money now, but I cannot travel to the UAE at the moment. If I give someone (or a lawyer) power of attorney, can they go to the bank branch and close the fixed deposit for me? I have no cases against me, no outstanding loans, and the credit card balance is fully paid. The bank informed me that I must first close the credit card, then wait 45 days before closing the fixed deposit in person at the branch. However, I cannot go to the UAE for the next 6 months. How much would the process cost if I do a POA and hire a lawyer?

Can I close my LLC company and pay off all my debts and liabilities if the the license is expired?
Q: Good Morning, I want to close my company (an LLC located in Sharjah) and leave. I have personal and company liabilities which I plan to settle before I leave. My company license ended in December 2024. Can I pay off personal debts and company liabilities without renewing the company license (including renewal of tenancy contract) in the next 2 to 3 months? We signed MOU to purchase a house on a mortgage and it got delayed. Can the seller ask for compensation?
Q: Hello to all. We are purchasing a house with a home loan. We signed the MOU on 31/10 and unfortunately, it took the bank approximately 2 months to complete the whole process. Now the MOU has already expired and the seller is asking for an additional 10% security deposit as compensation for the delay. It is not our fault as we don`t have control over the bank approvals. Can they do that? Are we protected from DLD in this matter as the property is under mortgage? Thank you+1
