How to calculate the notice period in case of termination job at school mid-year?
Q: Hi, I need advice on the termination of the contract and notice period. I am in the 1st year of my 2nd fixed-term contract with my employer (school) and was terminated on 21 March due to restructuring. Firstly I`d like to know what I am entitled to in terms of end of service. Secondly, my employer`s contract says I have to give one term notice, so they want my last working day to be 5th July. However, my MOHRE contract states `the terminating party shall notify the other party of such desire 3 months as a prior notice before the determined date of termination, such period shall be similar for both. My employer is saying that because we had 2 weeks of spring holiday and then 1 week of Eid, my notice period does not include the holiday (I was terminated before the holiday began). Please, can you advise on the correct date of the end of the notice period? Also how to get the employer to agree.

س: السلام عليكم، لدي مشروع بناء فيلا في عجمان. بعد الانتهاء من البناء واستلام المقاول جميع دفعاته طلب مني دفع مبلغ 65 ألف درهم بغير وجه حق. يدَّعي أنها للعمالة الإضافية والضريبة، مع أن العقد شامل، وقد تأخر في التسليم 3 أشهر ويقول إما تدفع وإما لا أصدر لك شهادة إنجاز. ما الحل والطريقة الصحيحة؟

Will you get detained at Dubai Airport if you have a case and have transit with the same airlines?
Q: We would like to thank all participants for their invaluable input. We have a very specific question regarding connecting through Dubai in case of a probable court case/police case in the UAE. Does it make a difference if connecting from an Emirates flight to another Emirates flight without passing through immigration as opposed to connecting between different airlines in which case there is a possibility of passing through immigration, especially between different terminals? Q: Can I get a UAE visa if I`ve had syphilis but received treatment? Adequately treated with one dose of Benzathine Penicillin in 2020. No longer infectious. Apartment's chiller connected to my DEWA, despite being told it's chiller-free. What now?
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I recently signed a rental contract based on the agent`s confirmation that the apartment is chiller-free. While I had a WhatsApp conversation confirming this, it was not mentioned in the contract because the agent claimed it was not a standard practice. However, I have now discovered that the chiller is connected to my DEWA. I agreed to rent the apartment for AED 66,500 instead of AED 60,000 because the agent assured me that there would be no additional cost for the chiller. What options do I have now?+2

Can the court expert extend the timeline of delivering his report?
Q: In my misdemeanor case of 150,000, the case is in the upper court and is with the Ruler`s Court expert. The case went to the Ruler`s Court expert in October 2023, and the expert picked the case in Jan 2024. He said that the report will be ready in Apr 2024. Now there is a 2-month extension. Is there any timeline as to how much time the expert can take? Also, is there a maximum time as to how much time the case can stay in the upper court?

What is last workday with differing notice periods in employer's and MOHRE contract?
Q: Hi, I need advice on the termination of my contract and notice period. I`m in the first year of my second fixed-term contract with my employer (a school) and was terminated on March 21st due to restructuring. Can the employer force me to stay until my visa expires if my contract already expired?
Q: I have a doubt about my visa expiry. My MOHRE contract expired yesterday but my visa will expire on June 8, 2024, so my company is asking me to work till my visa expires. If I consider the visa date, I need to work for 26 months but as per the UAE law, the contract has been made for 24 months. So is it legal to work till the visa expires?
