Q: I am being pursued for a debt of 290,000 dirhams in the UAE by twofour54, the media free zone in Abu Dhabi. The debt is historic, 10 years old, and it is a company debt, not a personal one. I am a UK citizen currently visiting Dubai and wish to contest the disputed amount. I was the general manager, so I’m unclear why I am being pursued personally. Can a settlement be negotiated? Q: I am seeking legal advice regarding a financial and emotional scam perpetrated by a close friend. She borrowed money from me, promising to return it but later claimed she could not. I discovered that she has been deceiving others similarly, taking money and providing false excuses. I have evidence of her fraudulent actions and testimonials from other victims. How to get paid by the court after seizing the amount of the judgment from the employer?
Q: Dear Lawyers, Kindly assist please, 1. I got a favorable judgment against my employer after completing my contract without renewal. I executed and they refused to pay after Dubai Court served them notice. I made the block request which was confirmed by Al Adheed, however, the company still won’t pay (But the company pays workers` salaries in between which I can confirm). I saw an update through my account page on the court website that one of their bank accounts has the executed amount and the bank has reserved it. I just want to know how long it will take for the Court to collect the amount from the bank and pay me or if there is another process I have to take. Note- It`s been 3 months and 1 week from the Case registration date to Execution Court. 2. Also The company canceled my visa, however, I am hoping to exit the country within the amnesty grace period if I can’t get an employment offer for a new visa. Q: I am seeking advice on an issue involving a shady friend. She has been pressuring me to run social media ads promoting private tutoring services in the UAE, despite not holding the necessary license to offer such classes. She insisted that I use my personal information for these ads and avoid sharing any of her details, claiming it was due to concerns about harassment. However, I suspect her true motive is to avoid legal consequences as she knows this activity is illegal. She wanted me to advertise these services using my social media accounts, and in the event of inquiries, I was to pass on the students to her. My sole evidence is a phone call we had of her directing me to engage in these actions. Can we terminate a staff member who did not return to work after annual leave?
Q: Hello, We have a staff member who was supposed to return to work on 15 September 2024 from annual leave (they went back to their home country). However, after trying to reach them, they finally told us on 12 September that they have a travel ban due to legal issues that they are being accused of. They said that they have a hearing on 13 Sep and will update us on the matter. However, we have not heard from them since then. We have tried to contact him but nothing. What are our options here? We unfortunately cannot keep waiting for them (as operationally, we needed him back), and due to this being a legal matter (we don`t want him to work for us anymore, it seems serious). Would Article 44 Clause 8 apply here? We haven`t heard from him in over 7 consecutive days, but it also states that it applies if they failed to give a legitimate reason (which technically they have?).+4

What can I do if the tenant is subletting my property and not paying rent?
Q: The tenant is not paying and subletting nor getting utilities connected in their name. He also changed the door lock after moving in. His security cheques and rental cheques are bouncing & he knows that he will get a. notice so he is prepared for that too. He is part of a tenancy scam where these people pay the first month`s rent as cash then the security deposit post-dated cheque which gets bounced. Can we file a lawsuit directly or do we have to first send a notary notice for vacating and cheque bounce? Can one notice serve both? And can we go to our flat and get details of those staying there? Please advise. They also changed locks and only last month Ejari was signed.+5
