Can the real estate management increase my rent without notice?
Q: Hi. My contract expired 4 months ago and I am trying to contact my current landlord who was a bank. They were telling me to go to the office and renew it. I visited the office, and they told me we sold this building and the new owner will contact you. I was trying to renew because I need Tawtheq for the bank and other work. After 4 months, the new management company sent me an email in which they increased the rent and also added a service charge of AED 3000 and an admin fee of 500, which was not in my contract. This is my 4th year in that office. Please let me know how I can go legal for my rights, also they told me if you will not pay we will go legal.

Filing for custody and adultery after divorce if ex-wife abandoned children for boyfriend
Q: Dear lawyers, I have been divorced mutually in Dubai. The children have been living with me because my ex-wife chose to live with her boyfriend. Due to financial conditions, she chose a new life with a new man, abandoning the kids and her past. Now, as I legally want custody, she is creating drama, and her current boyfriend is taking advantage. She had a relationship with him before the divorce. I couldn`t file for adultery as I was focused on my career and children. Can I do it now? All evidence is present. The children are residing in Dubai, and she has completely stopped meeting them as her boyfriend controls her. He is married too and has children he has kept abroad.

If a man gives most of his assets to his wife, can this be challenged after his death?
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, According to Emirati law (361 of the Family Code), any "heela" (legal stratagem) that causes the circumvention of the law can be nullified. Does that pertain to inheritance cases? For example, if a man gives away most of his assets to his wife but does not provide anything for his children, and then he dies, can this be challenged on the basis that the man tried to avert the requirements of the law in distributing his assets fairly? A colleague crashed my rented car, and they want me to pay for the damages. What now?

How can I check the reason for immigration ban and travel home if I never had a legal case?
Q: Hi, I planned to travel back to my home country and when I reached the airport, the immigration told me I had a ban. However, I do not have any legal case or any kind of loan, and I have never been involved in such issues. I tried 4 times and every time they said no, you can not travel, your name is banned in our immigration portal. I visited all departments, CID, Court, and Immigration and all gave me clearance certificates however still the issue is there. Can someone please help me?+2

How is the start date of work calculated in case of disagreement with the employer upong resignation?
Q: Hello, I started working remotely and signed an offer letter in April 2023. As I was transitioning from another job, my offer letter said that I would work part-time in April, and I started working full-time on May 10, 23`. I landed in Dubai and got my employment visa and contract when I landed in July, although my offer letter was signed in April and I`ve been working since then. Now, I`m resigning, but my employer is calculating my annual leave and gratuity pay from July 23` (to avoid paying my gratuity pay and deduct fewer annual leave days from my notice period). Should my start date be counted from April 2023, since I started working in April, or from July? They say that my April-July remote work qualified as freelance work, but we never ever discussed or put in writing any freelance contract. Thank you, P.2024/05/21

My husband left me and my kids without financial support. What can I do?
Q: Good day. My husband left me and my kids. He is British. I’m Asian. He is still in Dubai. I asked him to put in writing the financial support that we would get without divorce as the solution. What document should I process? Also, my kids are British. Is it possible to get my UK visa through them? I only have a tourist visa but not residency as I understand we have to live there for 5 years. I don’t have any means to support myself when we get there. Q: Hi there. I have resigned in March. My last day is June 12th. When I finish I will have completed 11 months. I have offered compensation in lieu of notice. My company has rejected it. Is this legal for them to reject? Secondly - as said the last day is June 12th. My employer told me today they will not pay me my May salary in May. Instead, they will hold it and pay in my settlement in June. Is this legal? I work in a free zone but their employment rights they have said are as per MOHRE.+1

المستأجر في السجن. كيف تجدد زوجته عقد الإيجار؟
س: السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته، يوجد مستأجر سُجن بسبب قضية وحاليًا تسكن الشقة زوجته وابنه وهي تدفع الأجرة بدون أي تأخير. انتهى العقد. هل يمكن تجديد عقد الإيجار تحت اسم الزوج وزوجته توقع مكانه؟ أم يجب ترك العقد بدون توقيع؟ أم يجب إبرام عقد إيجاري جديد باسم الزوجة وفي هذه الحالة يمكن تغيير الشروط والأحكام والقيمة الإيجارية؟ أرجو منكم الإجابة!+2
