Can I exit the country after being notified by ADJD of a civil claim against me?
I was notified by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department that a civil claim had been filed against me. I’m ignoring it.
Can I just run away and exit the country easily?
I guess no travel ban has been imposed against me yet.
Thank you.
Good morning,
If you’ve received a civil claim and have been ignoring the notifications or court hearings, it's important to understand the potential consequences.
Even if no travel ban has been imposed yet, the court can proceed with a default judgment against you, which may include financial penalties and enforcement actions such as freezing assets or imposing a travel ban.
If you attempt to leave the country, there’s a risk you could be stopped at immigration if a travel ban is issued later.
Additionally, fleeing the country could result in international enforcement of the judgment and future restrictions on re-entry to the UAE.
To avoid further complications, I strongly recommend we address this matter promptly. I can assist in reviewing the case and providing you with the best course of action, whether that’s negotiating a settlement, defending the case, or taking the necessary legal steps to minimize your exposure.
Please let me know how you’d like to proceed.
Best regards,
Dear questioner
You can exit now, but it will be difficult to return.
Also, we cannot assure that there is no travel ban imposed yet. In this case, we need to check the same and confirm.

If you fail to appear in court after being properly notified, the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department is likely to issue a judgment against you in your absence.
This means the claimant's allegations and demands will likely be accepted as true by the court.
The judgment against you will remain valid and enforceable within the UAE for a significant period. If you ever return to the UAE in the future, you could face immediate arrest and enforcement proceedings.
We will let you know the possibilities in detail. Kindly share your WhatsApp number to discuss further.
Greetings,
Ignoring court notifications and hearings is highly risky.
Even if no travel ban is currently imposed, the court may issue a judgment in absentia and enforce it later through travel bans, asset freezes, or arrest warrants.
Exiting the country without resolving the matter can have serious legal consequences.
We strongly recommend that you consult a lawyer immediately or appoint our firm to represent you and manage the case properly.
