Is the Final Judgment Certificate sufficient as a divorce certificate?

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have already received a “No Appeal Certificate” for the divorce after the cassation expired, and I subsequently applied for and received the “Final Judgment Certificate” from the Abu Dhabi court.

Do I still need to apply for a Divorce Certificate, or does the Final Judgment Certificate itself serve as the Divorce Certificate?

Hello,

Under UAE law, the Final Judgment Certificate can serve as the divorce certificate, and there is no need to apply for a separate divorce certificate if you already have the Final Judgment Certificate.

Dear Questioner,

Thank you for your inquiry!

Based on the information you've provided, the No Appeal Certificate and the Final Judgment Certificate indicate that your divorce case has reached its conclusion and is legally final.

However, the Divorce Certificate itself is a separate document issued by the relevant authority to officially record the divorce in the civil register.

Even though the Final Judgment Certificate confirms the finality of the divorce ruling, it may not be sufficient for purposes such as updating marital status with government authorities or for other legal proceedings.

To clarify, the Final Judgment Certificate confirms the conclusion of the divorce case and that no further appeals can be made.

The Divorce Certificate is the official document that legally records the dissolution of the marriage and is used for administrative purposes, such as changing your marital status in official documents.

I would recommend that you apply for the Divorce Certificate through the court where your divorce was processed, as it is typically required for updating your legal status in various government records.

If you need assistance with the application process or have further questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Kind regards,

Mohammed Salah

Dear Client,

Thanks for your question! I hope you are doing well. I will assist you in this matter.

Yes, you still need to apply for a divorce certificate even after receiving the "final judgment certificate" from the Abu Dhabi court.

The Final Judgment Certificate serves as proof of the divorce decree but is not the same as an official divorce certificate, which is specifically issued to document the termination of the marriage.

The divorce certificate includes essential details such as the names of both parties and the date of divorce, making it necessary for legal purposes, including attestation and future marital status verification.

Thanks & Regards,

ABDUL WAHIED

You must apply to the documentation department to obtain a certificate that does not extinguish the ruling in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. However, you need a certificate from the documentation department to this effect.

According to UAE law, the Final Judgment Certificate serves as the official document of divorce and does not require a separate Divorce Certificate.

Therefore, you do not need to apply for a Divorce Certificate if you have already received the Final Judgment Certificate.

This document will serve as proof of your divorce in all legal and administrative matters.
