Can I exit and re-enter the UAE on a new visa while my family’s visas are on hold?
Dear Lawyers,
At present, my visa is canceled, and my family’s visas are on hold. As their sponsor, can I exit the country and re-enter with a new visa due to issues with my current employer?
Once I return, I plan to remove the hold on their visas. Is this legally permissible, or could there be issues with my exiting the country while my family remains inside with their visas on hold?
Please advise!
Hello,
If you exit the country with your family’s visas still on hold, you will not face any legal penalties for leaving.
However, if there are complications with your family’s visa status (if they try to leave or if their visa is canceled), you could face issues later when re-entering the country.
If their visas are on hold, they are still in the country but are not allowed to travel. Their visas are not canceled, but they are not active for any legal purposes (like exit, re-entry, or renewal).
While you can exit the UAE while your family’s visas are on hold, your family’s stay in the UAE becomes more complicated if they need to exit before the hold is cleared.
If the visa hold is not lifted, they cannot legally travel out of the country without consequences.

Dear questioner,
There are legal complications, such as overstay fines. However, it would be better if you could exit the country with your family and then return to the UAE with the proper visa status for all members.
If you need further assistance, kindly share your WhatsApp number.
Yes, you can exit and re-enter during the grace period.
Greetings,
You must settle your family’s visas before departure to avoid being returned back at the airport, as you are their sponsor.
