If a woman travels without parental approval, will there be any issues?
Hello,
I'm a 23-year-old Emirati woman who wants to leave the country. I have several questions, regarding leaving the country. If I leave without my parents' approval, will there be any issues at the airport particularly with the border control?
If my family files a missing report, will my passport become invalid while I'm abroad, or will I face arrest upon my return?
Also, if I marry someone from abroad, will obtaining documents like a single status certificate or marrying someone legally here be affected without support from my parents?
Thank you for your answers!
Der Questioner,
You can travel without anyone's approval.
Now, you have reached the age of majority by completing 21 years, so you can do whatever you want, except that marriage in the Emirates is required with the approval of the guardian, and in the event that the guardian (father) refuses your marriage to a person, you can file a lawsuit in court, and the judge is the one who will declare your marriage.
If you travel outside the country and get married outside the country, there is nothing wrong with you, and your marriage is valid if it conforms to the conditions of the country in which you are getting married.
You must have the marriage contract authenticated by the Emirati embassy in the country in which you reside.

Dear Questioner,
According to UAE law, individuals over the age of 21 are considered adults and are free to travel without their parent's approval.
However, if you are under the age of 21, you will need your parent's permission to travel.
If you leave the country without your parent's approval, there may be issues at the airport during border control.
The immigration officers may ask for proof of your parent's consent or may contact them to confirm their approval.
If your family files a missing report, your passport will not be automatically invalidated. However, if the authorities are able to locate you and determine that you left without your parent's permission, you may face legal consequences upon your return to the UAE.
If you are planning to get married outside of the UAE, you will need to obtain a single status certificate from the UAE embassy in the country where you plan to get married.
This certificate confirms that you are not currently married in the UAE. If you are unable to obtain this certificate without your parents' support, you may face difficulties in getting married abroad.
Additionally, if you are planning to marry someone legally in the UAE, you will need your parents' approval as per UAE law.
Thanks!
