Unable to start work after signing a labor contract: Should I pay visa expenses?
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am Moroccan and accepted a job offer in Dubai. I signed the contract and received my e-visa (freelance).
However, I had last-minute family problems (my parents decided not to let me go), so when I texted the employer explaining the situation, he said that I need to pay him back 8500 AED.
However, the contract does not say that I need to pay for the expenses. What should I do?
Dear Client,
Thanks for your question! I hope you are doing well. I will definitely assist you in this matter.
If your employment contract does not specify that you are required to reimburse the employer for expenses related to your visa or any other costs, and you've encountered unexpected family problems preventing you from taking up the job, you may want to clarify this matter with your employer.
It's essential to maintain open communication and try to reach an agreement that is fair for both parties.

Hi,
Well, if there is nothing mentioned in the contract and as per the information you provided, you're not supposed to reimburse anything.
However, to give you the exact advice, I would need to review the whole terms of the contract and let you know the right actions you should take.
