Q: Dear respectable Legal experts, I have a question: I filed a case against my employer for my salary, gratuity, and annual leave and it took 6 months until the case judgment came in my favor. During these months, I could not get a job due to the legal case as other employers were reluctant to offer me a job. Please advise as per the UAE Labor Law. Do I have the right to claim any housing allowance or basic salary any compensation? As you know, it is very difficult to survive without a job in Dubai and if you are also living with your family and kids going to school. Should I keep quiet on the assurance from the lawyer with only two words? Nothing yet. How long does an employer hold the payment from the Dubai Courts? Is there any time limit? If not, the court and I are both waiting for my employer's action.

The provisions of this Decree-Law, known as "New UAE Labor Law", govern labour relations in the private sector of the United Arab Emirates. The New Labor Law repeals the previous UAE Labor Law (Federal Law No. (8) of 1980).
