Q: I and my wife are going through the divorce. We are both expats. I work and she does not work. I am her sponsor. We have a one-year-old daughter. Who gets the custody of the baby after divorce? Once we get divorced, who will be her sponsor in the UAE? Does she have to leave the UAE? If she gets the custody, how can she stay in the UAE without a sponsor? If she does not have a sponsor, can I get the custody of my daughter?

Q: Dear Sir/Madam,I would like to ask if a Lebanese man and Uzbek lady got married legally in Dubai, they have a baby 5 years now, mother study doctorate in university still not finish, the husband every day is drunk and beat her and alike, and he sleeps with other street ladies and not give money for wife and son, also he stated he want to divorce her and marry another lady.The question is what are her rights if he divorces her, and the baby will be with him or her?

Q: I'm not married to my son's father. He paid child support before the baby was born, and stopped one month before his birth. What can I do to claim child support from the father for my 9-month old son? He told me I won't be able to do anything because we are not married. Abandoned spouse right of filing an abandonment case

Q: Asalamu Alaikum I am an Indian women married in the UAE to an Indian man. He sent me to India for my delivery and didn't give me any money for delivery. It's been more than 5 months and still, he is not ready to apply for a visa for me and my kid. Whenever me or my dad ask, he says he is busy with work. He is neither calling us from the UAE nor giving us any money. Can I put abandonment case on him? What is the procedure for it? Can I file the case from India?

UAE Personal Status Law (also known as Personal Affairs Law) governs marriage, divorce, inheritance and other personal affairs in the United Arab Emirates. The law equally applies to citizens of the UAE and non-citizens unless one of them asks for the application of his home country law.

Enforcement of court decision against a developer

We won a court case against a property developer in Dubai back in November of last year. The court has issued an order of execution against the real estate developers assets. It has been now more than 3 months that this order has been issued and our lawyer keeps saying that the court can't find the assets even though the real estate developer have a project in construction and has advertising on billboards, buses, gas stations all over the UAE. What can we do in this instance and how can we make sure that the order is executed and we get our money back?
