Q: Hi, My salary was pending for 4 months. I complained to the Labor Ministry in July. Immediately after my complaint, the employer put me out of office after taking all passwords and keys from me. When Labor Ministry called, they agreed to the legal advisor that they will settle me within 1week. But they didn't do anything and after two weeks I complained again and they agreed to pay my salaries weekly and settle me within 37 days. Still, they didn't do anything. Also they are illegally keeping my Ministry of Health license and doing business on behalf of it in my absence which is not allowed. Now when I call they are not answering or abusing, accusing, threatening to move legally against me of things which I have no control of now. How to get my cancellation and settlement immediately? Isn't there any time limit for delaying even after agreeing and signing to the Ministry of Labor? Each time they are just buying time and not doing anything at all. If I approach, will there be any expense to move to the court?

I filed a case before he absconded and Labor office transferred the case to court where the worthy orders of the court to do execution and pay my dues and that execution is still in process. Labor approved me to work as part-time. Now I have a new job offer from another company and want to cancel the visa that has already been expired for one and half year. Q: Hi. I left my job with a Dubai based financial company (Not free zone) in March 2017, as I suspected my employer was taking deductions without my permission. I have asked for a final settlement of AED 68000 which they refused, and are asking me AED 16000 in return for bonuses paid. I was not able to work my 30 days notice as they blocked my office access, email and database. I have my first hearing due on the 9th of November, but my visa expires on the 18th of October. I am in a predicament because I have to travel next week for medical treatment in the UK and I have to take another job since I am not earning. Please advise what I can do. After the 18th of October, I will not have medical insurance. Is it possible I can get my visa cancelled without employer approval? Also, how can I arrange the travel approval? Thanks for your help.

The provisions of this Law, known as "UAE Labour Law", govern the relationship between employers and employees and other labour matters in the United Arab Emirates. There are special labour related regulations applicable in some of the free zones in the UAE.

This Decree sets the rules and conditions for the termination of fixed-term (limited) or unlimited (not term-bound) employment contract between employer and worker in the United Arab Emirates.

The provisions of this Decree-Law, known as "New UAE Labor Law", govern labour relations in the private sector of the United Arab Emirates. The New Labor Law repeals the previous UAE Labor Law (Federal Law No. (8) of 1980).
