Maintenance bank account fees and charges

Hi Sir,

I was terminated from my job last year and I left Dubai without closing my bank account. When I left my account balance was zero.

Now the bank is charging me 25 Dirhams minimum on balance and debit interest rate 175 AED.

The bank has made a total amount of AED -2500 from the last 15 months. My question is this: if I return on a visit visa to Dubai, will the immigration detain me?

Dear Sir/ Madam,

Thank you for getting in touch with me on this.

If the bank has your cheques then it may bounce and file a police complaint. This will result in detention at the immigration.

However, I would advise that you still undertake an Immigration check before traveling to avoid any unnecessary legal complications in the UAE.

I can assist you with the said check, you can mail me your passport and old Dubai visa copy through messages.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your reply. The bank has no cheques and I did not take any kind of loans or credit cards from any bank.

When I left, the account was zero balance, and I did not give any cheque to anybody at all.

FAB bank charges me on zero balance 25 Dirhams for minimum balance and 175 Dirhams debit interest.

The monthly fees are 200.00 (two hundred dirhams). I don't know why? how can I get all these dues waived?

I am honest I did not take any extra money from any bank neither loans nor credit cards, and there are no bounced cheques.

So please tell me the way that I get all my dues which have been caused by the bank waived.

I am out of the country for the past 15 months.

Dear Sir,

You can get in touch with the bank directly to waive your fines and if this doesn't work out then check your documents, is the bank justified in levying such charges?

Did you agree to maintain a minimum balance? In this case, you will be liable.

However, if they don't have your cheque then it is unlikely they will file a civil case against you.
