How can we prevent blocking accounts and assets in a cheque execution case against our company?
Q: Greetings!! We have a cheque execution case. The bank applied for execution to block the company account and the vehicles claiming the wrong amount. The court also approved this request and sent it to the central bank to impound the vehicle. We had already paid over 50% of the claimed amount and also requested the balance payment in installments a couple of weeks ago once the claimed amount was amended in the court system. The installment request is yet to be approved, however, they have proceeded with the execution. This is very concerning. How long does it take to block the accounts? What are the repercussions of the block? Kindly please advise if there are any other options available to avoid blocking the accounts and impounding the vehicle. Thank you

What to do if the Offer & Deposit application has been rejected twice by the landlord to increase rent?
Q: Dear Lawyers, I filed 2 Offer & Deposit applications: 1. Notice & Rent Increase: The landlord gave a 90-day notice to an unregistered email that is not listed in the tenancy agreement. My Jan 2025 filing, based on the Dec 2024 RERA Index, showed no rent increase, but the landlord now claims a 5% increase per the updated RERA Calculator this year. 2. Rental Payment: To deposit/transfer rent. Both were rejected due to the landlord’s nonresponse. However, the first installment was transferred via RDC & I provided the receipt. The landlord now demands the remaining payments, a renewed Ejari, & AED 420 admin fee (vs. the usual AED 265). They also threatened with eviction since Ejari expired last month. I’ve offered to provide PDC or deposit the amount. They have asked me to follow up with RDC to ensure the 1st payment is transferred to their account. Since I completed the Offer & Deposit process, I prefer they initiate a preliminary case. Could you please advise on the best course of action at this stage?

Q: I received a termination letter from my company on January 31st, 2025, with a one-month notice period, stating my last working day as February 28th, 2025. The reason given for the termination is "considering the current business scenario, the company has considered measures to reorganize the business." Could this be considered arbitrary dismissal? How do I handle a landlord’s case over an unfair rent increase and security deposit?
Q: Hello, My landlord and I are having a problem with a rent increase. The landlord gave me a rent increase notice 90 days ago, which was higher than the rental index, and he demanded a 10% extra security deposit which I rejected. He also tried to force me to leave the house, but I have no proof of this. I went to the RDC office and filed a complaint, after which I received a letter from the RDC stating that my rent would remain the same. However, the landlord rejected the application and said I could only renew the lease with a 10% increase, a 10% security deposit, and four cheques, which I also rejected. Now, he has filed a case against me, and the hearing is in February. Kindly advise me!

Can my employer force me to serve an extra month after my resignation?
Q: Hello, I am writing to clarify the situation regarding my resignation. I officially resigned on December 31st, 2024, and according to my understanding and the initial agreement, my notice period was to end on January 31st, 2025. However, my contract was amended a few months ago to reflect a two-month notice period. I would like to emphasize that I have not signed this amendment, and the employer is blaming me for not signing the amended contract and will take action against me. Please let me know how you would like to proceed, as I am eager to ensure a smooth transition and complete all required handover tasks within the original notice period. I have already completed my notice period, but the employer is still forcing me to serve one more month, which I cannot do as I have another company to join on February 14th.
