I left the UAE with an unpaid loan and the bank presented my security cheque. Is this legally accepted?
Q: Dear Sir, Warm greetings. In 2019, I obtained a loan of AED 260,000 from a bank and have since repaid approximately AED 96,000. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I lost my job and was unable to continue payments. The bank later bounced a security cheque for AED 260,000. I subsequently paid AED 10,000 as Qafala to the court. In 2022. A cheque execution case was filed against me by the bank through Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution, and a travel ban was imposed. I also filed an ASHKAL request in 2023, but have received no response from the court. Please note that the case is registered in Abu Dhabi. I kindly seek your guidance on the following: 1. Is it possible to close/remove or cancel the case on the basis that the cheque was a security cheque? 2. What is the process to request removal of the travel ban, as my job requires travel to other GCC countries?

The employers are delaying my experience letter intentionally. What can I do?
Q: Dear Respected Lawyers, I need advice. I have worked in a company for 6 years. After 4 years of leaving that company, I need a detailed experience letter mentioning my position at that time, with duties. As per the labor law, can I get it or not, or how? I have to submit this letter to the Ministry of Labor in the UAE to prove that my duties are matching with my visa. The employers are not responding to my emails or even calls; they are purposefully delaying it so that I cannot get my new job.

I sold my car to a car agency and they claim that the car is dead to deduct an amount. What can I do?
Q: I sold my vehicle to a known Buy and Sell agency in Abu Dhabi last 25 July 2025. They inspected the vehicle meticulously and quoted AED 12,000 Net. A vehicle sale-purchase agreement was presented, revealing that they will cut AED 600 for a convenience fee. So my Net pay will be 11,400. I agreed and signed all in good faith. I was instructed to wait until their PRO call and do the transfer of title at the vehicle registry. Since it was Friday, the transfer was not completed, and I have to wait till Monday. The next day, Saturday (17:30-18:00), they sent a message that the car is dead, sent it via recovery to Dubai for another inspection. They told me that the price needs to be renegotiated; they gave me a figure of AED 9000. They sent me a new agreement with the figure of 9000, but I did not sign it and just ignored it. Transfer finished, then they sent 11,400 to my account. Now they want the alleged excess back. Legally, do I owe them? Or I am being harassed as phone calls and emails are non-stop.

What can I do if my company filed a breach of trust case against me after losing money I held from customers?
Q: Hi Sir, My company was not giving me my commission cheques since November, so I kept the payment of 2 - 3 customers with me and I told the company to pay my commission to take payment of customers, then I lost the money from the car. I reported it to police, but police didn`t find any evidence. Then my company came to know this matter, and they said I owed them money. They forced me to sign a paper that I would pay in one month for the amount of 18000. I signed it, then they terminated me. They were not ready to pay anything. I filed a case in labor for about 37000 dhs, then my company filed a criminal case against me for breach of trust. My company has my passport, and they haven`t canceled my visa yet. After my labour case, my company filed the case against me in labour as well, claiming an amount of 49900. Then they requested to cancel the labour case of 49900 and filed a case 24000. What should I do in this scenario? I am under too much stress. Please advise.

My mother lost her labor case against her employer for claiming her gratuity. What can she do?
Q: "قررت المحكمة حضورياً: برفض الدعوى وأعفت المدعية من الرسوم وكلفتها بسداد مبلغ خمسمائة درهم مقابل محاماة." Please, can somebody tell me what this means? Did we lose the case? It`s a labour case of my mother. She served a family for 18 years. When she finished her contract, they didn`t provide her with an end-of-service gratuity, annual leave pay, or days off pay. Terminated without warning for unsatisfactory performance. What are my rights?
Q: Hello, I have been terminated by my employer suddenly with the reason of unsatisfactory performance; however, I did not receive any feedback in this area. In fact, I received an increment last month with no prior warning letters. I am really shocked by this decision, and during the meeting, I was pressured by the line manager and HR Director, due to which I got overwhelmed and signed the termination. They gave me a 3-month notice period under Article 43. Also, in my EOS calculation, they only included the gratuity but did not add the annual leave pay or the 3-month notice period salary. It’s my third year in the organization, and I am on company sponsorship under a limited contract. I want to know my rights as an employee and what action I should take in this regard.

I made a complaint about my stolen money and could not attend the hearing. Will I be penalized?
Q: Salaam alaikum, I made a complaint at the police station in Barsha about my stolen money 2 months ago. I left the country for a short while soon after that, but since I don`t know the process, I got missed calls from Dubai prosecution and a message from them to visit them on June 15th. I didn`t go since I was outside the UAE, and when I called them back, no one answered the call. Anyhow, 3 days ago, the Dubai Public Prosecution portal shows the person was sentenced for theft, and I also got a message that a judgment has been passed. I just want to know if I`ll be penalised for not attending prosecution, or stopped at immigration when I`m returning. Jazakallah Khair!

Can I cancel the deal if an advertised 2-bedroom apartment is officially a 1-bedroom?
Q: Hello, I`m in the process of buying an apartment. The apartment was listed as a 2-bed, and when I asked to see the floor plan, it was marked as a 1-bed. I was told by the agent that this was a mistake/mislabel and that the seller is trying to get it fixed. In the process of obtaining the NOC from the developer, the apartment was again listed as a 1-bed, and when I asked for it to be updated, the developer mentioned that the apartment is officially registered as a 1-bed. Since it was spacious, it was offered as an internal modification, but the official classification is 1-bed and that can`t be changed. I checked with the DLD, and the apartment is registered as a 1-bed as well. I was not aware of any modifications and was not told any of this by the agent when signing Form F. Are the above facts grounds for me to back out of the deal, or does the classification not matter in this case?
