Consumer protection and the concept of "cooling period"
Q: Is there a law regarding a "cooling period" on an item purchased? We had a problem with a company distributing vacuum cleaners in Sharjah, we have returned the item to them as we felt like being pressured to buy without giving us time to think before buying, and their contract states that I have to pay 4,000 Dirhams as a cancellation if I return the item within 3 days. Bounced rental cheque dispute
Q: Dear Sir, We have paid an amount with Rent Dispute Committee (RDC) for a rent case, but supposedly there is the bounced cheque case still filed with police. Breach of tenant's privacy
Q: (If) I took a picture of my tenant`s living room and posted it on a property website to rent the property, as we`ve agreed with the tenant that he vacates the property at the end of the year. Then he found out about the advertisement on the property website in the remaining 3 months before the end of the contract (we have posted the advertisement with the picture of the living room) and informed me to remove it from the website. I removed it immediately, but he has printed out the advertisement with his living room pictures. Now he is saying that if I made any issues to him as a tenant or deny his demands or do not renew his contract or increase the rent he will file a case in the police for the privacy breach. Please note that this was not intentional and it was a mistake without knowing the laws about these things. Q: How long does a person have the time to file for a privacy breach until it`s considered invalid or it`s long overdue or something similar? Kindly advice. Thank you. أسئلة وأجوبة

Q: I and my wife are going through the divorce. We are both expats. I work and she does not work. I am her sponsor. We have a one-year-old daughter. Who gets the custody of the baby after divorce? Once we get divorced, who will be her sponsor in the UAE? Does she have to leave the UAE? If she gets the custody, how can she stay in the UAE without a sponsor? Q: Good day! Need legal advice. Dubai-based LLC company with a local sponsor, in accordance with side agreement local partner receives an annual fee. But the company license was frozen for a long period of time and local partner was informed about it. Employment dispute assistance
Q: I started working with a developer`s hotels & resorts on Aug 17, 2015, as Director of Digital. They hired another Digital Director in early April. I was terminated July 28th. I have refused to sign the letter as I was going to Ireland that afternoon. I contacted them 2 days after and I advised that I would sign the letter based on the following: * Full payment of 30 days notice & holidays owed. * Full payment of yearly bonus, which, unfortunately, I had to learn after the payment of bonus to other staff members management did not approve. No reason was given for this. * Payment of value of flight home per year of completion of 1 year. * Payment for flight changes in December 2015 as per management request - AED 4K. * Gratuity payment as per UAE employment law.No response has been forthcoming. Am I better to go legal and just deal with them directly through a legal team? Should I go to Ministry of Labour? Any advice on a good employment law specialist would be most grateful.
