Is it possible to hold a general manager responsible personally for a company debt?
Q: I am being pursued for a debt of 290,000 dirhams in the UAE by twofour54, the media free zone in Abu Dhabi. The debt is historic, 10 years old, and it is a company debt, not a personal one. I am a UK citizen currently visiting Dubai and wish to contest the disputed amount. I was the general manager, so I’m unclear why I am being pursued personally. Can a settlement be negotiated? How to get paid by the court after seizing the amount of the judgment from the employer?
Q: Dear Lawyers, Kindly assist please, 1. I got a favorable judgment against my employer after completing my contract without renewal. I executed and they refused to pay after Dubai Court served them notice. I made the block request which was confirmed by Al Adheed, however, the company still won’t pay (But the company pays workers` salaries in between which I can confirm). I saw an update through my account page on the court website that one of their bank accounts has the executed amount and the bank has reserved it. I just want to know how long it will take for the Court to collect the amount from the bank and pay me or if there is another process I have to take. Note- It`s been 3 months and 1 week from the Case registration date to Execution Court. 2. Also The company canceled my visa, however, I am hoping to exit the country within the amnesty grace period if I can’t get an employment offer for a new visa.
