Can my employer demand repayment of salary after acknowledging an increase?
Q: Hello, I currently work for an American company based out of the US, but my contract is through a legal entity in the UAE. I received a salary increase last December. I had to sign a salary increase document. I have been getting paid that salary since. Now the company has a registered entity in the UAE. While they were reviewing the financials to transfer our contracts from the current local entity to the new one, HR claims they made a mistake, stating that I have been overpaid. They are asking me to revert to my previous salary and pay back the extra money I received. I have the signed contracts and the emails where they are admitting that error. Note that the new salary has been submitted to the involuntary loss of job insurance, and I have also applied for a bank loan using the new salary, providing certificates from my current local employer with that salary to secure the loan. Judgment in our favor: Who should we pay—landlord or court?
Q: Hi, I have had a rental dispute with my landlord about a rent increase. We submitted an offer and deposit, which was approved, but the landlord ignored it and filed a case for eviction, claiming we hadn`t paid rent or communicated. The judge ruled on this case saying: - Eviction rejected. - Rent increase rejected. - We are to pay all dues up to the judgment date based on the same conditions as the previous year`s contract. - The landlord is to pay all expenses and fees. Can a company take advantage of the new law and sue us for a review we wrote after two years?
Q: We are a business in Dubai, UAE and 2 years ago we had an unpleasant experience with a company in Ajman that had taken advance from us. After confirming everything and also taking the advance, they increased the prices by more than 60% and told us it was due to the raw material price increase and gave very vague reasons. So they gave us our deposit back but because of them, our order was also canceled and caused a lot of problems for us. So we gave them a Google review and wrote what happened. This happened 2 years ago and now, suddenly this company messaged us yesterday that they are filing a case against us for the review which we had given on Google. At that time he had also replied to the review but anyway, after 2 years, he wanted to file a case because we thought of a new law that says you cannot write a bad review of a company. But can he file a case for review which was 2 years old and he is just filing now because he wants to take advantage of the new law? What are our options? Apologies for the long read.2024/09/02

How to speed up buyer’s bank account opening and claim security deposit if delayed?
Q: Dear Lawyers, I am selling an apartment in Dubai to a US-based buyer. The Form F was signed at the end of May and has been extended twice to allow the buyer to secure financing. They have received pre-approval and are now waiting for the final offer letter. To obtain the final offer letter, the buyers (husband and wife) need to travel to the UAE to open a bank account. Due to personal circumstances, they cannot travel together, which means the bank account will not be opened for at least another two weeks. The Form F is expiring in three days. What are my recourses as a seller to: a) force the buyer to expedite their travel plans to open the bank account, and b) claim their security deposit held by the agent if they do not expedite their travel? Additionally, if I file a claim for their security deposit, will I be blocked from selling my property to someone else until the claim is resolved?
