Q: Hi, Hope you can guide me! We have a leaking ceiling in our apartment due to our neighbor above us who has failed to make proper repairs. The ceiling is badly damaged, and the representative of the accused party does not want to commit to bearing the expenses for the repairs. What legal action can we take? They keep ignoring us, and Nakheel is not mediating our complaint. What authority should we approach for this kind of dispute? Bank files a case despite seeking help during rent downturn - Need advice
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I took a secure loan (AED 400k approx) against my property about 6-7 years ago. I had been paying all installments till the sudden downturn in rents in 2019 when I approached the bank for a solution. Now in 2023, my bank has filed a case in Dubai courts against me without any substantial discussions or negotiations. I have been asked to meet on 21st Feb on a Zoom call since I am overseas. Buying property in Dubai: Payment options for non-UAE residents
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I am from Italy and am currently in the process of buying a property in Dubai. To arrange payment, I need to pay the seller via the manager`s cheque. However, I am experiencing difficulties opening a local bank account as I am not a UAE resident. The money for the property in Dubai comes from the sale of an apartment in Europe, but I am unable to open a bank account because I do not have a salary certificate. Therefore, I have two options: - Transfer the money to my girlfriend`s bank account in Dubai and use her account to produce the manager`s cheque in the name of the seller. Can the wife file for Khula in the UAE and will it be enforceable in India?
Q: I am married for 21 years with 2 children, 18 yrs and 10 yrs, based in the UAE. We have always had a difficult relationship but since I am a working woman I do not have to depend on him financially. Until Y 2016, his company was paying for kids’ education and accommodation so I didn’t have to worry about that. When he lost his job, that also became my responsibility. For the past 6 years, there is no support. I do not want to be married to him anymore and would like to proceed with Khula. Will the court ask me to compensate him in any way? The kids and nanny are under my sponsorship, will immigration require me to cancel their visa and restart the process as a divorced woman? We are Muslim expatriates. Will the court mandate him to provide child support even if I do not ask for it? How much time will Khula approximately take? And if you can, guide me on the cost.
