Claim for outstanding amounts
Q: Hi, I did a project on last May in Dubai World Trade Center. I took this project from one agency in Dubai, they didn`t pay any money until now. They are saying we made many mistakes. Basically, we were having an issue with a time delay to stand hand over and some graphics issue. Even they didn`t pay any single amount for this, no advance at all and I don`t have LPO also but I have their email correspondence if I go legal. I need help.

What to do if you have credit card debts
Q: Hi, I am staying in Abu Dhabi with my husband & 7 years old daughter. My husband was working in a big construction company from the year 1996. In October 2015, he got terminated due to which he went in depression. He got another job but due to depression, he was not going to work regularly. The company terminated him. He doesn`t have a job for 2 months & he is not in the position to look for the job as he has depression again. He was having 3 credit cards. During his first job, he paid regularly without any delays. But after this new job, he didn`t pay on time & even for 2 cards we were unable to pay for around 1 year. For the third card after checking with the bank, we had made installments but now for past 3 months, we didn`t pay for it. I really don`t know what to do. I am also working but my salary is good enough for the rent only. Nowadays, our friends are helping us for the daily needs even. Kindly let me know what could be the possible solution for this & can I send my daughter to the home country?2017/07/24

Letter required for property loan clearance
Q: I own an apartment in Dubai and on the Title Deed I have my name and that of my daughter who is a minor. I have approached a bank for an equity release against the apt and the bank has asked me to get a court permission allowing me to get the loan since there is a minor. I have approached the personal status court and the judge asked me to prepare a personal statement of my position, etc and to include the reason why I need the money and what I plan to do with the money. On the personal statement I put “The purpose that I am applying for this loan is because I would like to use the money towards the continued education of my daughter as she attends university in the United States to obtain a Bachelor’s degree which takes 4 years and part of the application process is to show proof of funds in order to pay for university as a pre-requisite in the application process.” My question is my reasoning ok for the Personal Status Court or should I put something else on my personal statement?2017/07/23

كيفية تمديد عقد الإيجار لبضعة أشهر
س: أستأجر شقة حاليًا في دبي لاند. تنتهي مدة الإيجار بحلول 28 فبراير. سأعود إلى بلدي يوم 6 أبريل ولا أريد البحث عن محل إقامة آخر للإقامة فيه خلال آخر شهرين. لا يمانع مالك الوحدة المؤجرة أن أبقى حتى السادس من أبريل لكننا لا نعرف إن كان الأمر قانونيًا وماذا يجب علينا القيام به لجعل الأمر ملزمًا بيننا. شكرًا مع أطيب التحيات

Consequences of filing a criminal case against a debtor by the bank
Q: Hi, I have just found out I have a police case filed by my bank on a credit card payment. I have a credit card with 25k limit and could not do minimum payments for 1 year (due to job loss), nevertheless, the bank filed a case against me for 190k. I do not understand on what ground and would like to know what to do. As well, how can I find out if I have a travel ban as I would rather try and solve the situation remotely from home than be concerned that I will be jailed here? Your advice is appreciated.2017/07/20

Consequences of increased area of property on handover
Q: I invested in a Dubai property in 2007. It was completed in 2016. In my handover notice was included a size increase letter which says my property size has increased by 50% and I now need to pay an extra 463,000 AED. Under Executive Council Resolution No. (6) of 2010 Approving the Implementing Bylaw of Law No. (13) of 2008 Regulating the Interim Property Register: "Any area in excess of the net area of the sold Real Property Unit may not be taken into consideration. Unless otherwise agreed, the developer may not claim the value of such extra area." The developer is saying because I agreed to pay for any increase in my SPA which I signed in 2007 I have to pay for the increase. I am saying since the law came out in 2008 and decree 6 came in 2010 they would have to agree the increase with me again. Can you please advise.2017/07/19

Q: I was working for Etihad Airways as cabin crew. I got fired last March so I couldn`t pay my loan to the bank. I tried to find a job but I was not lucky. However, when I came back home, a hotel in Dubai sent me an offer letter. But the bank sent me a notice about legal action. ماذا تفعل إذا لم يقم صاحب العمل بدفع الراتب
س: مرحبًا سيدي، أعمل مهندس اتصالات في الإمارات ( لكن مسمى الوظيفة في التأشيرة هو صراف إلكتروني ). لم تحصل شركتي على أي مشروع منذ فبراير 2017. طلبوا مني أن آخذ عطلة في فبراير 2017، وعلى الرغم من هذا لم يحصلوا على أي مشروع. عدت في 13 يوليو 2017 دون إخبارهم. لا يدفعون راتبي الآن بسبب عدم وجود عمل، لذا طلبت منهم شهادة عدم ممانعة حتى يمكنني العثور على وظيفة أخرى، والآن يطلبون مصاريف التأشيرة. ما الذي ينبغي علي فعله الآن؟ تاريخ إصدار التأشيرة: يونيو 2016 ( تأشيرة عمل لمدة سنتين ) أرجو أن تقترح علي ماذا أفعل.2017/07/18
