Resolving housemaid passport and salary issues on contract termination
Q: Hello, Good day! I have been working as a housemaid for almost a year, since March 8, 2022. However, I already informed my employer on February 8, 2023, that I wish to terminate my contract because they are not giving me a day off and my working hours start at 7:30 am and end at 12 am or sometimes later. Additionally, they have been keeping my passport and visa, and have informed me that I need to pay for them. They have also withheld my salary until a new nanny is hired. Can you please advise me on whether I can directly approach the labor department to file a complaint? I am afraid to return home because I am worried that my employer might do something to harm me, and it is difficult for me to make calls while I am working as I am constantly taking care of the baby, and there is a camera in the room. What are the consequences if a woman still married outside gets married in the UAE?
Q: I would like to inquire about getting married in the UAE (regardless of which Emirate). There is one couple planning to get married this March 2023. The groom is a Pakistani Muslim (divorcee) and the bride is Philipina Christian (legally married in the Philippines). The bride is saying that she has not filed the annulment yet in the Philippines, which means that she is still legally married. The bride is saying that there will be no Marriage Contract and the required documents are not yet needed. If they get married in Islamic law, is it legal? Is there any legal consequence if they still continue getting married? What actions are to be done if they still do so?

What to do with the tenant who refuses to evict after serving the 12 months notice properly?
Q: I bought a property in January 2022. I gave a 12 months` eviction letter through the notary under the major renovation clause. We are now 14 days before the eviction day and the tenant refuses to leave (the reason is that he needs 1 more month as he bought a property that is not handed over yet). Q: Hi Sir, I have a question regarding my employer. I worked for over 9 years in a restaurant company here in Dubai. How can I oblige the landlord and building management to do maintenance for leakage?
Q: What are my options to take legal action against my apartment building for not fixing the constant issues that I am facing in my bathroom? رفع دعوى تعويض بعد الحكم بالبراءة في دعوى كيدية
س: السلام عليكم، حصلت على حكم بالبراءة في قضية كيدية من كفيلي. تضمنت حيثيات الحكم كيدية القضية وعدم كفاية الأدلة وعدم اطمئنان المحكمة لشهادة المُدعي. لم تستأنف النيابة العامة حكم البراءة. هل يحق لي رفع دعوى تعويض عن الأضرار المادية والنفسية وتشويه السمعة الذي تعرضت له بسبب تلك القضية؟ أرجو الإفادة!
