A company in the UAE failed to provide the service we paid for. How can we refund our money?
We are a UK-based company that paid for a UAE agency to complete a photoshoot for us. Some time passed as we were struggling to schedule a shoot in our schedule.
They also delayed the matter due to a lack of availability for them. They promised us a shoot by November but then stopped responding to us.
We threatened legal action and now they are only offering a refund of approximately 18%.
Please could you advise me on how to move forward as they have cheated us?
If the agency does not implement the agreement, you can request a full refund or file a legal claim for compensation.
Start with official correspondence and file a complaint with the relevant authorities such as the DED (Department of Economic Development).
If the dispute persists, please contact us via phone or WhatsApp.

We can send them a legal notice and demand the performance of the contract or refund you the full money paid with legal interest.
Further, we need to review the terms of the contract in order to advise you properly.
Please send us a copy of the contract by email and call us for detailed discussion and assistance.
Hello,
Before escalating the matter legally, send a legal notice to the agency. This notice should outline your complaint for the failure to fulfill their obligations and your demand for a full refund or compensation for the breach.
If the agency does not respond to your legal notice or refuses to provide a full refund, you can file a complaint with the Department of Economic Development (DED) and also you can file a civil suit in the Dubai Courts to recover your full payment.
For a detailed discussion, kindly share your Whatsapp number.
Welcome.
To move forward, you can consider taking legal action to recover the full payment or seek compensation.
Since they have not fulfilled their promise, and are only offering a partial refund, you may have grounds for a breach of contract claim.
Dear Questioner,
Thank you for reaching out. I understand your frustration regarding the agency's failure to fulfill its contractual obligations and its unsatisfactory refund offer. Here are steps you can take to address this matter:
Review the Contract/Agreement
Examine the terms and conditions outlined in your agreement with the agency. Identify clauses regarding timelines, obligations, refunds, or penalties for non-completion of services.
Document Communications
Collect all evidence, including emails, messages, or other records of discussions about the photoshoot, delays, and their refund offer. This documentation will be critical in any legal or negotiation process.
Engage in Negotiation
Respond formally to the agency, rejecting the 18% refund and stating that you expect a full refund due to their failure to deliver the promised services.
Reference the terms of your agreement and include evidence of their non-responsiveness.
File a Complaint with UAE Authorities
If negotiations fail, you can file a formal complaint with the Dubai Consumer Protection Department or relevant authority based on the agency’s location.
This department handles disputes between businesses and service providers in the UAE. You can submit a complaint online through the Dubai Economic Department (DED) website.
If the agreement includes provisions for international arbitration or mentions governing laws in the UK or elsewhere, you may also explore those avenues.
It is advisable to act swiftly to protect your rights and recover your funds. If you need assistance from a UAE-based legal representative, I would be happy to assist.
Please feel free to reach out directly to us by phone or email with further details or questions.
Best regards,
Mohammed Salah
Welcome,
What you agreed upon in a contract with obligations on both parties, if one party performs a specific task and fails to fulfill his obligation, the other party may prove this failure and request the termination of the contract with compensation to compensate for the damage.
First you may approach by sending a legal notice. Clearly outline the services you paid for and the specific breaches of contract by the agency.
Demand full reimbursement or specific performance (i.e., completing the photo shoot). Set a reasonable deadline for their response.
Collect emails, messages, and any other communication with the UAE agency. Maintain records of all payments made to the agency.
If they are not responding to the legal notice within the time frame, we will be filing the case in the competent court.
We will discuss the procedures in detail. Kindly share your WhatsApp number to discuss this further.
Thank you for sharing the details of your situation. It seems like you are dealing with a breach of agreement and potentially unfair practices by the UAE agency.
Based on the facts you've provided, you may have legal grounds to demand either full performance of the agreement (completion of the photoshoot as promised) or a complete refund of the paid amount, especially if their delay and subsequent lack of communication caused a significant inconvenience to your company.
To proceed effectively, we would need to:
Review the agreement or contract you have with the agency to assess the terms and conditions regarding service delivery and refunds.
Analyze your communications with the agency, including any written correspondence or evidence of their commitments and delays.
Draft a strong legal notice to demand compliance or a full refund, along with any applicable compensation for damages.
Should the agency fail to comply, we can escalate the matter by filing a claim with the relevant UAE authorities, such as the Dubai Courts or the Department of Economic Development, depending on the circumstances.
I would be happy to assist you in resolving this matter. Please reach out to me via WhatsApp or phone to discuss this further and plan the next steps.
You can also email me if you'd prefer.
Looking forward to assisting you.
Best regards,
