How can I remove a travel ban and fine in a criminal case to go to my home country?
Hi.
I am having an ongoing civil case in Sharjah. I need to travel to India because my father passed away yesterday. Therefore to do the last rites, I really have to travel to my home country.
But the problem I am facing is that I have a pending fine to be paid in the criminal court which is 100,000 with which I have a travel ban.
I have done nothing wrong to the company that I was working for but I still have gone through so much such as being put in jail for 8 days, not renewing my visa, and taking money from my account.
I haven't worked for the last 2 years and all my savings that I had in this country were all put to run the case.
Could anyone let me know if there is any possibility to reduce the fine imposed on me?
Thank you.
Hello,
Dear questioner,
The travel ban is not lifted except after a court ruling is issued to that effect. In the event that the court ruling is issued in favor of the travel ban, you must appeal the ruling.

Dear Questioner,
Thanks for your inquiry.
Regarding the above, we would like to inform you that, according to UAE law, a travel ban can be imposed on an individual if they have pending legal cases or unpaid fines.
In your case, it seems that the travel ban has been imposed due to the pending fine in the Criminal Court.
In order to reduce the fine, you can try to negotiate with the court or the relevant authorities. You can also seek the help of a lawyer who can assist you in negotiating with the court and presenting your case in a favorable light.
Additionally, you can also try to reach a settlement with the company you were working for, if possible. This may help in reducing the fine or getting it waived off completely.
It is important to note that the decision to reduce the fine ultimately lies with the court and it is not guaranteed that it will be reduced.
However, it is worth trying to negotiate and present your case in a sincere and honest manner.
In case you are unable to reduce the fine, you may have to wait until it is paid off before the travel ban can be lifted.
It is advisable to consult with us as a lawyer for specific legal advice and guidance in your case. Kindly do not hesitate to contact us by phone or email.
Greetings,
Dear Questioner,
I'm truly sorry to hear about your situation. Dealing with legal issues in a foreign country, especially during such a difficult time, can be incredibly stressful. Here are some steps you might consider taking:
1. Consult with a Lawyer:
It's crucial to seek legal advice from a qualified lawyer who is familiar with the laws and procedures in Sharjah. They can assess your case and provide you with the best possible options.
2. Appeal for Reduction:
Your lawyer can help you appeal to the court for a reduction in the fine. They can argue your case and present any mitigating circumstances that may justify a lower penalty.
3. Negotiation:
Sometimes, the court may be open to negotiation, especially if there are extenuating circumstances such as the death of a family member. Your lawyer can negotiate with the relevant authorities on your behalf to see if the fine can be reduced or waived.
4. Emergency Travel Permission:
In certain cases, courts may grant emergency travel permission for situations like attending a family member's funeral. Your lawyer can help you file a request for emergency travel permission and explain the urgency of your situation to the court.
5. Seek Assistance from Embassy:
If you're a foreign national, you can also reach out to your country's embassy or consulate in Sharjah for assistance. They may be able to provide you with guidance or support in navigating the legal system.
Remember, it's essential to act swiftly and seek professional legal help to address your situation effectively. I hope you find the support and assistance you need during this challenging time.
