Do you need to start a company and pay VAT to promote products for a foreign company?
I am a Golden Visa holder (Indian citizen) and looking to work as a contractor for an EU-based manufacturer to promote their products in the Middle East. They do not have an office in the region.
If they were to pay me for the above services, is VAT applicable?
And do I need to start an entity in the free zone?
Dear Client,
Thanks for your question, I hope you are doing well. I will definitely assist you in this matter.
As a Golden visa holder in the UAE working as a contractor for an EU-based manufacturer, VAT may apply if your annual turnover exceeds AED 375,000.
Depending on the scale of your activities, you may need to consider a business setup in a free zone or mainland UAE. Ensure that your contracting activities comply with the terms of your Golden Visa.
