Can boss ask to serve 3-month notice period after verbally agreeing to cancel visa?
Dear Sir/Madam,
I live in Dubai. I used to work for a private electrical company. I sent a resignation email to my company on August 8, 2023. After a phone conversation with my boss, he agreed to cancel my visa after I finish the current site.
However, I received an email on October 6, 2023, saying that I have to complete a 3-month notice period.
My boss only agreed to cancel my visa verbally, and I don't have any written proof. I tried to call him many times, but he didn't answer.
My contract states that the notice period is 3 months. What should I do now?
Dear Client,
Thanks for your question! I hope you are doing well. I will definitely assist you in this matter.
If your employment contract states a 3-month notice period, it is legally binding.
While your boss verbally agreed to cancel your visa, the contract's terms may still apply.
Continue trying to communicate with your employer in writing to seek clarification. Both you and your employer are obligated to adhere to the terms of the contract.
For any further legal assistance, you can WhatsApp us. We have an extensive team of knowledgeable and experienced lawyers to provide the legal assistance you need.

Thanks & Regards,

You have to complete serving your notice period until the 5th of Nov. and then you can sign on the cancellation papers after receiving your entitlements.
And if your employer refused to cancel your visa, you can contact MOHRE.
