How to know if a work permit is canceled?

Dear Sir/Madam,

I left the UAE in June and canceled my expired work permit before I left. I paid the outpass fee, and I was allowed back into the UAE a month later on a tourist visa.

However, a company that does work permits has told me that my previous work permit is not canceled. Is this possible?

How was I allowed back into the UAE on a tourist visa if my previous work permit is not canceled?

Dear Questioner,

There may be an employer ban without a travel ban.

Working in the UAE without a work permit is illegal. This country has legislation governing immigration and residence, and if you or your employer do not follow the law, you may be subject to penalties.

The work permit was canceled by MOHRE as I had a court case with my previous employer and they said I had no employment ban.

There are two government authorities that you can reach out to find out if you have an absconding case against you:

1. Ministry of Human Resources and Emiritisation (MOHRE) or,

2. General Directorate of Foreign Affairs (GDRFA) in your Emirate.

You have two options; the first is to settle it with the employer to submit a request to cancel, which is the strongest solution.

The second is to submit a request to cancel it with a mercy or pardon request; it’s not a strong solution to cancel but you can try.
