Bank loan issue

I was working for Etihad Airways as cabin crew. I got fired last March so I couldn't pay my loan to the bank. I tried to find a job but I was not lucky.

However, when I came back home, a hotel in Dubai sent me an offer letter. But the bank sent me a notice about legal action. If I don't pay the last 4 months I will be facing a big problem with the court.

What should I do? Please advise.

Hi,

Thanks for your question. According to the UAE codes, you must abide by deals you have made with others, so if you have a commitment with your bank you should do it.

In your situation, it's necessary to go to the bank to solve the issue and reschedule your installments to avoid any judgment on you.

I'm not in the UAE now so I can't visit the bank, however, I'm talking to them via email. The problem now that I can start paying my loan again but my new salary is just 2000 AE and my original installment was 5800 monthly.

Do you think they can lower my installment from 5800 to 1500?

This is the point you can discuss with the bank. They might consider your request for easy installments.

I checked with the bank and I sent them my new contract with my new salary which is very low comparing with my previous job. Their answer was they can't accept this installment because my salary is very low.

This was my only chance to go and work in Dubai and pay my loan, now I lost it. I told them I will try to find another job with the higher salary, they said the bank will proceed with legal action.

Dear,

You may request for easy installment until you find a new job with high salary and negotiate on the point that once you will get high salary job, then the bank can restructure the loan payment.
