Can children of an absconded UAE citizen claim financial support in the UAE?
Hello,
My father is a UAE citizen and my mother is British. I live in the UK with my mother and brother, as my father absconded when we were young.
He has always refused to pay towards our care and does not respond to our attempts to contact him.
His name and signature are on our British birth certificates, and my mother has a nikkah marriage certificate that was obtained in the UK.
Please could you advise if we have any rights in the UAE as his children?
We have been told that we could travel to Abu Dhabi to open a case against him in court, however, this is not financially an option for us.

Dear Questioner,
Yes, you have the full right to ask your father for alimony.

Dear Questioner,
Considering that you are the children of an Emirati citizen residing in the UAE, you can claim child support and other rights assigned to the Emirati citizen, and in order to claim these rights, you can authorize an Emirati lawyer to submit this request and follow it up on your behalf.

Good day,
Hope all is well!
Yes, as long as you have the proper marriage and birth documents, we can open a case and ask for alimony for all the previous years as well.

Hello dear questioner,
You can obtain Emirati nationality from your parents and obtain the entitlements of all the fostered children.
Because you are unable to travel, you must appoint a lawyer specialized in these matters, and according to the agency organizing this in your name, they can pursue matters judicially in the country.
